phillybear 366 Posted September 1, 2014 Rather than hold onto some weak choices at the CB spot at the end of the bench, Schneider traded a 6th round pick for Marcus Burley. Early reports have Colt fans scratching their heads at giving up a decent player for little value. I'm really surprised that Eric Winston didn't make this team. Caylin Hauptmann didn't stick. Benson Mayowa was a key prospect that was let go. Korey Toomer played well this year until he got hurt yet again.

phillybear 366 Posted September 4, 2014 It's been fun the past few days watching NFL Network and the specials on the Seahawks season last year. The Superbowl replays, the retrospectives, etc. Being that Seattle is 11 for 13 in scoring on drives that Russell Wilson initiated in the preseason, 9 TDs, 1 FG, 1 FG missed, and only 1 punt, and the ridiculous QB rating Wilson posted, I can't help but feel optimistic about the offense going to the next level, and the point spread won't catch up for a while. Seattle (-6) vs Green Bay on opening night? Yes, please.
phillybear 366 Posted September 4, 2014 Lemuel Jeanpierre, one of the best OL backups on the team, looks done for the year.
BunnysBastatrds 2,320 Posted September 4, 2014 You left off the 12th granny. Those old dried up snatches are itching to shake those cans tonight and make some extra noise.
phillybear 366 Posted September 4, 2014 I suppose that I will get much, much more detailed in game previews as the season goes along. As I do with my writeups on Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead on the Geek Bored. 2 years ago, a feeble Seattle offense and a strong defense beat Green Bay straight up. GB found a running game and Seattle found a potent offense. Being that Seattle has won so many games at home recently in such a dominating fashion and that Green Bay's defense is vulnerable, I am taking the team most likely to win. And also cover. Seattle 35 Green Bay

Groundhog 24 Posted September 5, 2014 So…pleasantly surprised with the guard play, but Justin Britt makes me miss Breno. However, little pass rush, and then only after Bulaga got injured. I see a lot of OVER bets on Hawks games this year.

I see a lot of OVER bets on Hawks games this year. Petey fawks up everything he's ever touched. He's the turd Midas. He will do the same this year. And Seahawks fans know it. Can't wait to see him fail and blame others. Book it now.

Joey Gladstone 33 Posted September 6, 2014 I didn't hate Britt's game. It wasn't a disaster and I'm feeling better about him starting. Lynch is in for such a huge year if Carp keeps it up and stays healthy. It's a shame we most likely won't be able to keep him if he finally has a breakout year. I was hoping to see a little more Richardson. Lockette's TD was very sexy. Burley looked ok. He will be the nickle for at least another month. I'm dying to see Simon get some heavy, regular season playing time.

He will be the nickle for at least another month. I'm dying to see Simon get some heavy, regular season playing time. Britt looked pretty good with the run blocking. His pass blocking is still suspect. But overall I give him a passing grade. Keep the fingers crossed I guess. It only benefits us if we're all wrong on the guy, and he does end up working out. Carpenter definitly looks great this year. However, we didn't pick up his option year. So this is the first year he actually has to work for a payday. I hope he has a great year, and we ride him for all he's worth. Then let someone else pay him. I envision him back to being the suck once he gets his next, and probably last contract. This year cannot be a coincidence. He's gonna get paid, then dog it again. I still hate Lockette. Too cocky for me. For fantasy players playing in IDP leagues All I saw were people b!tching about Sherman's doughnut he put up thursday. So what. Why did you draft him. He's a lockdown corner. Do your homework and draft a safety. Or a half way decent #2 corner, across from a #1. Sherman flat out did his job. He cut off half the field against a stud QB on a high scoring offense. 1 guy did that for 60 minutes. Kudos RS. You the man. REPETE REPETE REPETE is the theme this year boys. It's REPEAT with a coach Pete edge!!!
Groundhog 24 Posted September 7, 2014 Carp shed some of the body weight and he mauled guys. Let's hope he keeps it up. Sweezy looked pretty good too. I also cannot say strongly enough how important Zach Miller is to this offense. It's not just the highlight reel catch he made; he seals off defenders on a regular basis. He is a great 3rd down safety valve and he makes Lynch look good. Very glad he restructured his contract in the offseason.
phillybear 366 Posted September 8, 2014 Signed OT Aaron McDonald, after Phil Bates was cut again. Roster churn. Let's not get too nuts over the play of the offensive line. They didn't suck, but Green Bay's defense isn't all that great either. Carpenter looked better. Britt was bad in pass blocking for the most part. Reality is the our entire offensive line run blocks better than pass blocks, with the possible exception of Alvin Bailey. I was watching the game with other football fans, and was asked several times "who was that offensive lineman that totally whiffed on the pass block?" Yep, it was Britt. Tom Cable was admitted his man crush on the kid, so I can't stand him even more. If he ends up responsible for the upcoming Wilson injury, I'm going to shoot his dog and bugger his sofa. I'm not going to nit pick any further. It was a convincing win over a contender. And after watching some of the other NFL teams sh!t themselves, like New Orleans, Chicago, New Orleans, among others, and ugly, ugly wins by San Fran and Denver, it's hard to complain. Other than the banged up depth in the secondary. Oh, and let's not hold our breath for any rookie WR to contribute this year. Ain't happening.
phillybear 366 Posted September 9, 2014 CB Jeremy Lane put on IR, signed CB Josh Thomas who spent time with Carolina. Aaron McDonald was on the Carolina practice squad, so it appears we are scouting the Hell out of Carolina.

Good thing Carroll can make pro-bowl quality corners basically appear out of thin air.
phillybear 366 Posted September 10, 2014 Word. After the year he just had nobody will be testing Richard Sherman. I would have avoided him like the plague in IDP leagues. That also sucks about Lane. Good thing Carroll can make pro-bowl quality corners basically appear out of thin air. At least Lane can come back after 8 weeks. That trade for Burnley really looks eerily prescient. I do plan to keep up with the editing for updates to post #2 and #3 of this thread all season long for roster changes and the practice squad. It's going to be obsessive. If I miss something, one of you should point it out. It feels like I'm updating Phil Bates transactions every other day.

Groundhog 24 Posted September 10, 2014 I demand a new reality show. We'll call it 'Rosterbating with Phil Bates'. Every week, the cameras will follow Phil into John Schneider's office where he'll learn whether he is working out at the Clink and which opposing receiver he's supposed to pretend to be in practice, OR, if he's going to have to find a new place to live. Hawkfin 32 Posted September 11, 2014 Good to see Carroll coming to his senses and installing Walters as the punt returner. Baldwin is next in line. Yeah happy for that too.... Not only was it risking him, but he didn't call a fair catch to save his life. Glad he's off! Smart move once again by pete. GO HAWKS 27-10 over SD
Reality 3,105 Posted September 14, 2014 Hit them in the mouth and absolutely throw at Sherman, SF showed everybody the blueprint and good to see other teams use it. Different team outside of Seattle. Just because a player runs his mouth non stop doesn't mean he is unbeatable, or the best.

Just because a player runs his mouth non stop doesn't mean he is unbeatable, or the best. Yeah Sherman got totally roasted today man! Burnt just like Jimmy Graham's fantasy owners the last two years! No one ever claimed the Hawks were invincible. Every team is going to lose some games, especially on the road, and SD played much better than them. Being on the road and maybe not being used to the weather could be a factor but whatever it was, Seattle couldn't get anything going. Gates and Rivers were great and SD got lots of pressure on Wilson, who rarely looked comfortable. Props to them for a good game.
