It was before. So had I posted this bit of trivia in 1999 or 2000, I'd be incorrect. In 2016, I am correct.

No team with regular season wins record in any sport has ever capped off the season with a title.

You said "ever". 1972 Dolphins would disagree as well.

Best regular seasons for the 4 major sports:

NFL:16-0- 2007 New England Patriots. Lost in the Super Bowl to the New York Giants, 14-17.

NBA: 73-9- 2015/16 Golden State Warriors. Lost in the NBA Finals to Cleveland Cavaliers in 7 games.

MLB: 116-36- 1906 Chicago Cubs. Lost in the World Series to the Chicago White Sox in 6 games(also note that the WS was the only playoff series played back then, and the White Sox had the lowest BA in the MLB for the regular season, and both teams batted under .200 in the series)

116-46- 2001 Seattle Mariners. Lost in ALCS to the New York Yankees in 5 games.

NHL: 62-13-7(131 points)- 1995/96 Detroit Red Wings. Lost in WCF to the Colorado Avalanche in 6 games.

60-8-12(132 points)- 1976/77 Montreal Canadiens. Won the Stanley Cup Finals against the Boston Bruins in 4 games.

Owned and obliterated.

For the lazy. Here is Worms bumped post in the other thread. Too good not to share, I thought for sure HT was grasping at straws.

"Giants cheated? I don't think so. There was something fishy about that game though. It seemed like the Patriots weren't even trying, and Belichick made the mighty curious decisions of 1) going for it on 4th and 13 IN THE THIRD QUARTER when they could have kicked a 49 yard field goal in perfect dome conditions and 2) leaving Ellis Hobbs, the weakest and shortest of NE's dbs, in single coverage on Plaxico Buress down near the goal-line with the game on the line. Hobbs fell over. The play before, Samuel dropped an easy INT.

I think the Pats were told to lose. My theory is that Goodell was afraid of what would happen with the Spygate scandal, but if the Pats lose, then it all goes away..."

I know it's so stupid that you have to read it to believe it. He won't respond, but it's funny because it's so stupid. Stupid Worms. I plan on bringing this up at least 50-60 more times.

Sorry, Ed, but 16-0 by a miiiiilllleee.

Pats lost to ELI MANNING.

Warriors lost to an all-time great having an all-time great performance, and needing an all-time collapse to even do that.

And, IMO, 73-9 > 16-0, discounting the playoffs altogether.

Patriots lost for 1 simple reason. Their offensive line sucked balls.

On Mike and Mike this morning, Greenberg totally stole my post. Not sure what his Geek membername is, but he said the same thing I did. None of the teams that currently hold the regular season wins record capped it off with a title. The bastard never ever credited me.

Definitely 16-0.

Going undefeated is special. Beyond just breaking a record.

I have said that if it were a 3 games series, the Pats would have blown them out of the water the next 2 games. Giants had a perfect game plan against them. New England would have adjusted and obliterated them.

That being said, Tom Brady has lost to ELI MANNING TWICE. As I've said, at least Curry lost to Bron and Kyrie. That still blows my mind. I hate Brady and the Pats, but I almost feel bad for them because of that.

To go 16 an 0 and then not take it all would have to be the worst. Basketball is not interesting in the slightest so my view may be skewed .

Well, when you realize the patriots threw the game because of spygate. It all kinda makes sense.

You're not getting my point...he's ELI MANNING. Get it now?

I'm just effing around. He's actually been great at times over the past 2 seasons and I think he's going to be a beast this year. That offense is going to be fun to watch and they can make some serious noise next season if that defense gels at all.
