How do you pick draft order for redraft leagues?

Always has been live pick draft order, never preset draft position. For years we have been doing just pick a random card from Ace to Queen. This year we finally got creative and are going to throw 36-50 rubber duckies on a pool and fish them out. Everyone will pick 1 duck at a time until all positions are filled. Probably have to pick cards for duck pick order. Besides the 1-12, Some ducks will be blank, others could be lose a turn, pick again, take a drink, take a shot, and the best one pick your position.

 

9 year old league with good friends. Drinking and shlt talking a must.

 

Wondering what others do for draft order.

 

Also open to ideas on what to put on duckies.

We just do reverse order with the only spin being that the winner of the loser bracket gets to pick their draft spot. Which is pretty damn good motivation to not flop after you miss the playoffs.

Just inverse order of the standings the previous season. We usually have a couple of teams drop out and new teams join. We put those in the middle between the nonplayoff teams and the playoff teams.

We do a draft lottery in a 10 team league.

Top 2 teams get 1 card each

Next 2 get 2 cards

Next 2 get 3 cards

Next 2 get 4 cards

Next 2 get 5 cards.

 

Then as many as can meet one night to determine the Order of Selection.

Where we shuffle the deck, wash the deck on the table and randomly draw cards.

First card drawn represents the first team selecting their draft position.

 

Initially teams tended to not move much.

However the last few years, the ends tend to be last picked.

This years Draft Positions in order selected were: 5, 3, 6, 7, 4 10, 1, 2, 8, and last team stuck with 9.

We do a similar out of a hat thing on a boys trip 2-4 weeks before the draft. Maybe a third of the 12 team league is there and it gets us fired up for the year.

We draw chips with names out of a hat. When a name is drawn, they choose their draft position. If you choose 1, you make your pick, if you choose 4, you wait until 1,2,&3 have made their pick, then you make your pick. Then another name is drawn till all 12 spots are filled and all the 1st round selections are made.

We play the dice game - Left, Right, Center. The first one out gets first pick, the winner of the game gets last pick but wins the pot for the dice game which essentially makes their season free.

We've done crawfish races, online keno boards, horse races, and the basic picking numbers out of a hat. This year everyone picked a song which was put into a playlist, and at a bbq the playlist was put on shuffle. First song played got last pick and so on, with the last song getting first pick. Pretty fun I thought.
