R8RMick 242 Posted December 25, 2016 Much will depend on tonight's game. Don't throw dirt on us just yet. I'd like to thank Ed Hochuli and his crew of clueless clowns for jackhammering a 12-3 Oakland team with ten penalties, including the sequence which put the Raiders in second and long. While they basically let three rookies on the Indy line get away with murder. you Hochuli you motherfucking hack.

Marshall 98 Posted January 5, 2017 Hrrm. Came across this tidbit today, which does not exactly promote future confidence in Raiders' transparency where injuries are concerned. I mean, c'mon, it was fairly obvious to anyone who was watching his last few games that Carr was dealing with something more significant than a dislocated pinkie finger - so to insist otherwise was basically an insult to viewers and fans. Anyway, this pisses me off: Derek Carr admitted he didn’t just dislocate his pinkie finger in Week 12, but also broke it. He should be over the finger and broken leg well in time for training camp. … (via Nick Mensio)
weepaws 2,461 Posted January 5, 2017 Thank you Jesus that I benched him the game after he so called dislocated his finger. And I agree we need to and should know the truth and nothing but the truth.
Oriole8159 86 Posted January 5, 2017 That stuff never bothers me. I try to think from their perspective, and so why would I want to provide any more than the minimum about what is going on physically with my players? It just gives the other team more info with which to game plan, and provides no benefit to my organization.
weepaws 2,461 Posted January 5, 2017 Yeah but it provides a benefit to me when it comes to ff.

The NFL knows how important fantasy football is to its popularity, so why piss us off?
giraldi02 470 Posted January 5, 2017 Not sure why the NFL can't insist on honesty and truthfulness regarding injured players. The NFL knows how important fantasy football is to its popularity, so why piss us off? Perhaps because disclosing specific information about a players' injury allows the opponents to specifically target that region of the body or to game plan accordingly? It's why teams say "lower leg" injury as opposed to "ankle" or "foot" or "hamstring". All three are located at very different spots on the spectrum of how a player could or couldn't perform on game day. The injury information is out there. It's available every week. Beat writers are constantly tweeting and writing about injuries/practice participation. While disseminating the information can be tedious at times, it's one of the few remaining aspects of research that can give studious teams the advantage when it comes to start/sit decisions or even streaming players. Oriole8159 86 Posted January 5, 2017 Not sure why the NFL can't insist on honesty and truthfulness regarding injured players. The NFL knows how important fantasy football is to its popularity, so why piss us off? All teams have to claim is that if you disclose a player's specific injury it leaves them exposed to even more damage because the opposition knows exactly where to attack them to demobilize them, which could hurt the even more. Thus, you're putting fantasy football over player's safety/privacy, and even the league isn't going to win that argument with the teams. Plus, fantasy football is a big part of the popularity of the sport, but it's not like we have leverage as consumers, and the league know that. Most of us are die hard and have been for a long time so the league knows we're not going anywhere. It's not like there's a rival league we can go to to get our fantasy football fix, and they know we're not going to just hop to basketball or hockey to get our fantasy fix. They really have a monopoly on the fantasy sports market, so when you have a monopoly and you know it, you actually have less incentive to cave to consumer pressure. Marshall 98 Posted January 6, 2017 Oh man...the hits just keep on coming. LT Donald Penn has been ruled out of the Wild Card game, after being unable to recover in time from a knee injury suffered in the fourth quarter of Week 17's game. https://twitter.com/DPENN70/status/817483828960854017 Penn had made 155 consecutive regular-season starts and was stalwart on the offensive line. Not only is this a crushing blow for Penn and the Raiders - but it may be crushing to Cook, as well. : / ETA: The best remedy for recovering from this depressing news is to give Robert Mays' excellent piece ('The Ass-Kickers From Oakland') a read: https://theringer.com/oakland-raiders-nfl-playoffs-offensive-line-kelechi-osemele-11cde958fbc7#.5rtwh23jo

Marshall 98 Posted January 7, 2017 Heh. Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 39m39 minutes ago With Connor Cook starting at QB today and Matt McGloin serving as his backup, Raiders No. 3 QB (and nightmare scenario) is Michael Crabtree.
Marshall 98 Posted January 8, 2017 The QB curse continues. Apparently the football gods learned that Crabtree was the final QB stopgap (see post above), and decided that he should not escape unscathed, either. He has left the field, to be checked for a concussion. Wheeee!
