cmh6476 768 Posted February 27, 2017 I never get Greinke, not since the dude was an exclusive maybe once. Davis would have been nice to have, but Royals prolly knew what they were doing when they let him walk and he has prolly already peaked I never get Bautista so that's different. I remember when he was a nobody but playing for the O's thinking "hey this dude used to be a Royal and I can't ever fill a roster so YES@!@#! :hyper: I knew I had to choose between Odorizzi and Zobrist, but if it's not Zobrist then it would be Cheslor Cuthbert which isn't bad if he can make the transition from third to second with Moose coming back, or Whit Merrifield :meh: or Raul Mondesi, Jr. who is basically about an automatic out as much as a pitcher in the NL at this point in his career. I actually have some decent exclusive SP options with Cueto, Duffy, Finnegan, and Kennedy so missing out on Odorizzi isn't the end of the world, although he could probably easily outperform all those I just mentioned this year. WhiteWonder 2,202 Posted February 27, 2017 Well, If i can put my Burt cap on for a moment.... I don't think it was possible for the draft order to fall any worse for my needs. Having Toronto pick after Cleveland and before me, rolling so low but then having the Royals, Orioles and Cubs still be after me. Price was my #1 target. As I was making my list I talked Wade Davis into my #2 spot for various reasons but immediately regretted taking him. I knew Bautista and Zobrist were gone... they were #3 and #4 on my board and i'm just going to comfort myself by telling myself CMH would have picked Wade Davis if I picked Joey Bats..... **go to my happy place** So, yeah, my #5 Logan Forsythe. This is where the nature of the Rays really shines. Who the hell wants Logan Forsythe?!? Whose #5 player on their board is as bad as Logan Forsythe?!?! On the downside, He's probably not as good a player as Zobrist (or as cool), no dual position eligibility.... and I had to take him because even though the Dodgers probably have better options, I couldn't risk missing out on him. An every day 2nd baseman fills a big hole for me and allows me some infield flexibility. On the upside, He is now in a much more potent offense than Tampa, is 5-6 years younger than Zobrist and could easily outproduce Zobrist. I was starting to wonder how many days off Zobrist would get between age and needing to get Baez and Schwarber on the field. Odorizzi.... idk. The guy doesn't really enamor me but after Price, there is a big drop off in draftable pitchers for me and he was clearly not making it past CMH's next turn. Sadly, he is probably my 2nd best pitcher as the Rays SP options are not as vaunted as they once were. Gone are the days of Price and two other dudes whose names I won't say because they are draft eligible but are horribly past their primes.
lambert58 56 Posted February 27, 2017 I really needed to see what my options were going to be in round 2 before I picked in round one. When I saw a few of those options fall it allowed me to grab my number one pitching target in round one instead of having to go another direction.
BlackClouds 24 Posted February 27, 2017 I thought with Greinke having a bad 2016, he'd drop to me for sure. No such luck as Ted seems destined to screw me every year.

GuardBum 73 Posted February 27, 2017 We are on a great pace. Keep it up everyone and we can be done by middle of next week. 2 rounds in about 3 days. (first official day here) but now that's it moving if we stay checking in like it seems we've been we can discuss more on the supplemental after this draft is complete. WhiteWonder 2,202 Posted February 27, 2017 i thought he would take Miller as well but then again I don't really know the team needs of anyone else. There was another player I thought he might take over Trumbo. I am having a hard time remembering who that player is . Oh, it was Justin Turner.
Mookz 1,288 Posted February 27, 2017 Yeah, Trumbo probably doesn't help me that much, but I couldn't pass up the home run king. My pitching is pretty much focked. Maybe this year I actually try to make a trade.
gratefulted 14 Posted February 27, 2017 I would've been truly focked if I didn't get Turner, I had no other worthy 3Bmen left with Beltre gone also...

GuardBum 73 Posted February 27, 2017 I thought hard about waiting on Martin but I couldn't do without a C and at least I know he'll play almost everyday not wanting to be forced into a bad trade or a sup pick just to field the position.

Wouldn't you say that for some guys like Shields, cueto, Volquez, santana...

shotsup 832 Posted February 28, 2017 Nice pic shots I almost went Cabrera myself but I just can't stay away from closers Well then I am truly lucky because I wanted to grab him before Zero did. Totally forgot AC had that one year in TB. Whew.
Jim Mora 26 Posted February 28, 2017 Damnit Mora. I was so hoping you'd let Dyson go 1 more turn. I knew he wouldn't be around for my 5th round, and I was really tempted to go Napoli there. Figured there was a chance BC would pass on Napoli and I was already picking ahead of BOS and CLE. Glad it worked out. 3/4 is usually brutal to me.

WhiteWonder 2,202 Posted February 28, 2017 Havent I pis9ed anyone off yet? you piss me off every season, hombre. Bautista looking solid in spring. means im naturally going to regret passing on him, especially when Sir Rodney saves 35 this year . Plus Im sure you would have preferred Odorizzi but I think Hammel may be just as good this year. KC is a better team... Odorizzi has a little more untapped upside, I suppose. bbascom 20 Posted February 28, 2017 Well my last 2 picks looked a lot different than I expected. Number of lost players through the first 4 rounds: Round 1: 4 Round 2: 4 again Round 3: 0 Round 4: 4 once more Lost 3 players within the last 4 picks before my 4th round pick. (Napoli, V-Mart and Reddick) Was hoping to grab at least 1 of those 3 with my 4.14 or 5.01 pick. Damn you Mora, Zero and Ted!!!

Though, I'm very happy that someone else in this league finally gets the opportunity to realize what it's like to roster Mitch Moreland. It's like having plans to go out and eat at a high end steakhouse, and you're looking forward to it all day. I mean a really nice place, five stars and all that, and you've been salivating all day about how good that steak is going to be. Prime grade, dry aged, it's going to be the ######. You might even skip lunch, just saving up for it. You rush home, ready to head out for a romantic candlelit dinner, and then...then you find out the babysitter canceled, the kids are screaming, and the wife's in a horrible mood. Things go downhill very quickly, and you crash off that high. You end up taking the kids to Applebees, seething over your sad grey slab of select grade shoe leather congealing in some kind of gravy from a five gallon bucket while the kids are shoving any'tizers up their nose, contemplating what went wrong with your life. That's what it feels like to start Mitch Moreland. I feel for you my friend.
