Gladiators 1,948 Posted January 13, 2018 Met with the surgeon a week ago to go over options for my knee. Waiting for a call back to schedule it. Planning to have it done the week March Madness starts. Looking forward for the basketball, but not looking forward to recovery.

Gladiators 1,948 Posted January 13, 2018 At what point during the punt does touching the ball by the receiving team mean it can be recovered by the punting team? If it gets partially blocked, its not a live ball, but if it hits a receiving-team player downfield, it is. Ruling?

Gladiators 1,948 Posted January 13, 2018 Injured it playing tennis back in September. Thought I hyperextended it. Guy I was playing happened to be a doctor. He checked it out and said to ice it and take ibuprofen. Got better for a month, but after 3 months it still wasnt right. Went to the doc in December...MRI...torn ACL and partial tear of the Meniscus. Hasnt helped that my boss doesnt let me wear knee pads all these months. I've never had an ACL; meniscus in both knees, but that's nothing if they just clean it out. I know folks who have though, and the challenge is the rehab. Good luck. Ordered 3 crab cakes meals and were talked into mussels app. Ended up ordering 5 more orders of mussels and took the meals to go ! They are that good. Famous too. penultimatestraw 473 Posted January 14, 2018 You have meniscus tears? My surgeon said if you dont get them repaired, itll lead to cartilage wearing down and then arthritis. I don't know all the data off-hand, but a lot of ortho procedures aren't much better than PT over the long haul. Arthroscopy for arthritis and meniscal tears are two such procedures, but if you ask a surgeon, they'll recommend surgery more often than not. Surgeons like to do surgery, after all. ACL tear is a legit reason for knee surgery. For patients with knee pain, the small, short-term gains in pain and function from arthroscopy are greatly outweighed by the "burden, postoperative limitations, and rare serious adverse effects" associated with the surgery, write authors of a new clinical practice guideline. Instead, authors "strongly recommend" conservative treatment over arthroscopy for "nearly all" patients with degenerative knee disease. The guideline, published online May 10, 2017, in BMJ, is based on a 2016 systematic review that indicated outcomes for knee arthroscopy were no better than those for exercise in people with degenerative medial meniscus tear. The multidisciplinary, international panel included physical therapists, orthopedic surgeons, a rheumatologist, a general practitioner, general internists, epidemiologists, methodologists, and patients. Authors defined degenerative knee disease as knee pain not caused by traumatic injury in patients over age 35, "with or without" imaging evidence of osteoarthritis, meniscal tears, mechanical symptoms, or "acute or subacute onset of symptoms." jerryskids 5,821 Posted January 14, 2018 You have meniscus tears? My surgeon said if you dont get them repaired, itll lead to cartilage wearing down and then arthritis. Eh, I had all of the meniscus removed from my left knee in 2001, did taekwondo for the next 10+ years, do crossfit now, both very ballistic, no problems. Similar for most of my right knee meniscus a few years ago. My advice is to just have them clean that out and move on rehabbing your ACL.

I play tennis in the colder months and wakeboard during the summer. Did you read my post? I've done hella ballistic sports since my first meniscus removal in 2001, no problems. What does the surgeon recommend, a cadaver replacement? That is 3-4 months of rehab which, I dunno, maybe is a freebie with your ACL rehab.
