****Official 60s Music Draft**** (Complete)

I'm breaking my streak of bands which haven't been chosen. On my Mount Rushmore of 60s groups is Simon and Garfunkel. The two most obvious songs have been taken, but not my favorite. In 1982 the Concert in Central Park occurred, to me it was must see TV. I put my cassette recorder, the one where you needed to press record and play at the same time, up against our console TV and sat riveted as I listened. Afterwards I had an incredibly crappy recording which I played the crap out of regardless.

 

In addition, I dabble in guitar which may come up in future picks. I'm mostly a chord faker, but my good friend who taught me chords also taught me finger picking so that I could play this song. It is pretty much the only song I can finger pick, but I know the technique because of it.

Burt Bacharach and Hal David wrote this song for a movie soundtrack. Several other artists were asked to sing it, but turned it down because they didnt like the song, the film or both.

Enter BJ Thomas. Right place, right time, right song, right film.

The film won multiple Oscars including best song and score.

It was the first movie I ever saw in a theater. My dad took us. I sat in the front row with my brothers, where we ate popcorn and milk duds until we nearly puked.

When we had the discussion prior to the draft pretty much everyone agreed with me but drunk shots thought it would be fun for her to post and us to interact with her. TEKs gf is ghosting us. Pre draft, she was lauded as a potential bringer of hilarity. As per usual, many geeks jumped at the opportunity to interact with a female in any capacity and welcomed her with open arms.

I objected in another thread where we discussed it, since I felt that this was a forum for us actual posters to learn more about each other, not some random chick none of us knows or cares about. A bunch of people agreed with me, but shots was deemed the person who selected participants and he thought it would be fun for her to post and us to haze her. She has posted exactly once, and TEK is stopping his ubering to draft from her list. Yay.

I was suspicious when he said can size 38DD. People around here tend to exaggerate these things. Somebody said his wife was tall and slender and then in another thread said she had an hourglass figure. Thats not even possible.

My opinions on the matter have nothing to do with being ungrateful for you running the draft. I appreciate that.

 

But I said at the beginning that I felt these drafts were at their best when kept to regular posters.
