DaBeerz 88 Posted November 19, 2018 I am just wondering those in a keeper league, if you have Gurley what are your thoughts on his viability over the next few years? Statistically we know that RB wear down fast and rarely produce stud numbers for more than a few years. Also that 300+ touches rule applies where their injury potential increases a lot after a season with that many touches and hits. I think it's almost definite anyone with Gurley would keep him at least 1 more year (I could go as much as 2 more). Probably overthinking it, I know, I'm just gonna ride Gurley until he wears out. Frozenbeernuts 1,653 Posted November 19, 2018 Yeah you are. A stud in that situation is only worth trading if you can't continue to keep him, or if you can get multiple studs in return
polecatt 405 Posted November 19, 2018 I wouldn't trade him. It's hard to really project beyond the next season in keeper leagues but Gurley is as solid as they come.
Brutal Brutus 182 Posted November 19, 2018 As long as Mcvay is calling plays he'll be at or near the top every year. Gurley is a great talent but his coach is what makes him the best.
makindollaz 40 Posted November 19, 2018 Unless you're working a deal that gets you Barkley or possibly Kamara (if PPR), I wouldn't deal Gurley.
DaBeerz 88 Posted November 19, 2018 Unless you're working a deal that gets you Barkley or possibly Kamara (if PPR), I wouldn't deal Gurley. No deal trade deadline has passed. That said prior to next years draft I would be able to trade away Gurley and his keeper rights for anyone I want. If I thought Gurley was going to have an issue in 2019. Which right now I don't but I'm looking longer term. Just a thought.
cavern 70 Posted November 20, 2018 i don't think it has any effect long term. nor do i even suspect short term implications since they're on bye. but i think gurley got a little nicked up last night
Canadianfan 76 Posted November 20, 2018 Gurley is just hitting his prime. I wouldn't worry about his decline for at least another 3 years. Gym rat and dedicated to the sport. Great coach, qb and offensive scheme.
Ehlana 25 Posted November 20, 2018 It depends what you can get for him. His value will probably never be higher, so if someone offers you a thanksgiving bounty, you should at least consider. I'm not actively shopping Gurley in my keeper league, but I don't believe in guys being untouchable either.
scottsind 61 Posted November 24, 2018 I can keep a player for 2 kept years and I just traded Barkley for Gurley. Obtained Barkley by trading AB. Figured for the next couple years Gurley will be better than Barkley and then I can trade and cut bait. A risk, but think LA will have the better offense for the years I can keep him than NYG. weepaws 2,515 Posted November 24, 2018 The owner that traded with you I would guess already had Gurley for two kept seasons then. So it looks like a good move for the both of you, and I would agree Scott, If the Rams stay healthy I think you will have the better part of that deal. The other owner gets a very good player in return.
