Still not "confirmed" yet but...very interesting.  Worth a read if you have followed the case at all.

"Rech confirmed that the man who confessed is neither Avery nor Dassey. "

You can never know for sure with folks.

This confessor might be full of sh!t, or maybe he is legit.

Bottom line, the government wont allow itself to be held accountable for its misdeeds.  We have seen this in the past, if these two guys want out, the government will make them confess first...to cover its arse....the government is a mean b!tch constantly on its period, I can never understand why people want to give it more power.....

I wish I could even pretend to give answers (be them bad or good) on this. It is mind-boggling how so many people want to empower narcissistic corrupt "leaders" to control their lives. I'm at a loss for words on this other than, fvcking lazy people who don't want to be in control of their own lives. :dunno:

This is one reason why I dig Trump.  If he is able to improve the economy, give people jobs, give people a sense of hope for socioeconomic progress what results is people who feel less "put upon" by the world, less inclined to turn to something like government for help or "protection".  I think this ties in well with the Conservative mindset of individualism and less government.

I can see what Trump and this potential outcome terrifies the left, socialists in particular.  Imagine if more and more people are empowered, they will put a hand up to the government and tell them to back the fock off, socialism withers in an environment where people are self-sufficient and empowered.

Our leaders work tirelessly to take control from people's lives.  The left needs to work less because their constituents gladly give it up.

Jeebus---if it were true that someone other than the Avery killed that woman...and he'd been falsely convicted twice.   :shocking:

Yep.  And lets take this further....just to get opinions...and this is very hypothetical...

Lets say he was immediately arrested, say...2 months after being released, for a different murder.

He serves 4 more years in prison, and he is then found to have been falsely convicted for a 3rd time.

He get's out and is arrested and sent to prison a year later for yet a 4th murder...to which it is later found....same thing.

How does the public react?  I mean, sure, the internet blows up, people talk around water coolers. "Must suck to be that guy!", etc etc.  Lots of screaming from public, but all white noise, basically, because, uhhh...what is someone gonna do?  Slap our court systems hand? Slap the cops hand? The judges?  Send them a  mean letter calling them names?

At what point and to what extent....does it it get taken a step further than just internet yelling?  Would it ever?

IMO, the government doesn't let it get to that point.  Avery would find that he hung himself in prison or "died of a heart attack" somewhere along the line.

Heck, wouldn't surprise me if it happened this go-round, if it is proven that someone else did it.  Gubment and judicial system won't be stand have egg end up on their face again.

Anyone with a brain knew Avery and Dassey were innocent.

Who knows.  That was my assessment.

I've watched court (real) shows and clip and heard so many comments from DA's and SA's and loved ones of victims.

What it looks like to me, in so many cases, is that the DA/SA just wants "A" conviction.  Not necessarily the right conviction.
And family members that are mourning, of course lock onto whatever it is that the prosecuting attorney says.

Most often, the conviction they get is the right one, but at times, it isn't.

Yup. DA's/SA's  in American have far too much power and often is used inappropriately.

Joseph Evans is the fellas name.  Some news outlets still reporting that the name is "unknown" yet.   But, its on a few places.

Here is the confession letter.  The part on top of page 2, where he "hit her" then "hit her with rock" sound fishy.  But who knows.  Its a safe bet that the guy isn't one of the founders of Grammarly.

Agreed.  Avery is guilty as f@ck.

Question...

So if the the courts end up saying "Well, uuhh..based on the evidence, Evans did it.   Avery is innocent, we're sorry for the mistake, etc"  then let him go....

What do you say then?

1.) Avery is still guilty.
2.) Other

Avery's own lawyer says it's ridiculous and nothing but a money grab.  Avery himself laughed when his lawyer read the confession to him.

1.) His lawyer is just being a lawyer. Not jumping to conclusions.  Whereas say, Avery's sister or mom or dad are probably jumping up and down, pointing, while yelling "See! See! He's innocent! He's free!!"

2.) Odd that Avery laughed. If I was stuck in prison, I don't know if I'd find it funny. Maybe. Who knows.   Avery to me, seems to dumb to be able to maintain a consistent story if he were lying.  That + some of the evidence I saw (if its true) make believe there is a chance he didn't do it. Combined with the fact that the State locked him up before just because they wanted to prosecute "somebody ...anybody", even though they didn't have proof that Avery did it.

3.) I could very well see the "confession" being made up.   Mark somebody or other "confessed" to killing Jon Benet.  They ultimately discovered it was false and for attention.

No sense getting too worked up either way with this. If Evans did it, he will provide info proving he did it....and it will eventually come out. If not, it's just another high-profile false confession.

If I were in jail for murder, I assume for life, I might confess to some high profile stuff just to mix things up and add some excitement to my life.

Fair enough.  However, the guy who's confessed has been known to do this before.  He's already asking for $2000 to be put into his prison account NOW.  Also, not only does he want the 100K reward money, he wants ANOTHER $250k on top of that.  This has all the hallmarks of some guy trying to get money and attention.

I'm not buying it.
