Sufficient power.  Plenty of space. Lots of cool features.

You sure you aren't talking about your wife?

I may take the vehicle to Denver next winter on our ski trip, but that is not the reason. The majority of my cars were manuals before moving to Houston and I have not owned one in 8 years. I just wanted to drive another manual again. They are difficult to find. In a performance sedans the only options are BMW, Subaru, or Genesis.

I am still 90% sure I will get an F-150 as my next vehicle, but I did not want to special order one.

I have had the following in manuals:

Subaru Outback

Subaru Outback

Subaru Legacy Wagon

Nissan Sentra

Toyota Camry

Toyota Camry

Mazda Protege

Only manual I owned was an 89 Mustang 5.0 Sport, loved that car.  But it depends on the driving you do.  I had it about 7 years until in a short span I (1) had a kid, which made the two door a bit of a pain, and (2) got a new job where I had to commute into the city during major I-10 construction which was stop and go hell the whole way, so I eventually sold it.

Back to the luxury cars, I really liked my 2000 Jag S-Type.  It was the first model year for that and first with the Ford influence, which I actually thing made a good combo of increased reliability while maintaining performance.  Funny, with the Ford Z-plan it was substantially cheaper than comparable BMWs and Mercedes, but owners of those cars were like “ooh, look at you Mr. Jaguar!”

Also I’ve got your Subaru WRX stored in the back of my mind, if I want a fun sports car at a reasonable price.

One more Subaru and you’re an honorary lesbian.

Not a single German brand, that's for sure. (aside from Porsche)
Overpriced, over engineered trash and the resale prices prove it.

Not even a Benz? I've always heard they were crazy reliable, you could easily pile up 200k and the resale value is good. Just expensive to maintain.

For me, it’s going to be a car I drive on a normal basis. I’ll still have my truck if I want to take my dogs somewhere or need to haul something. Won’t be doing long trips in it too often if we even do any at all. Wife’s suv would be used for that. Thinking maybe a 2 door. Might get a 4 door but it really depends on the next few years. Ultimately, it’s gonna be like a new toy for me to drive around in that’s better on gas than my truck

Yeah.. give some thought to whether you want a 2 seater, a coupe, or sedan

Honestly, if I got it now it would be 2 door. Saw some really nice ones in Miami that I liked and made a note of. But it could change when I have kids in the next year or two. Prob will want a 4 door

I don’t like the way they look

It's a matter of taste. But they are absolutely turnkey. And it's nice to have a comfortable vehicle that starts and drives everytime. And you aren't beating people off the line, but they cruise at 100 if that's your bag.

so... then you will have to ask yourself what size works best ie: for bmw... 3 vs 5 vs 7; audi 3 vs 4 vs 6 vs 8, etc

I would recommend a Subaru WRX. They are fun to drive and dirt cheap.

I just bought one for 27k, which is 13k under the average new vehicle price. They also are among one of the lowest depreciating vehicles(second link).

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, lesbo.
Honestly, I only saw 3. You’re definitely gay. 😝

I was listing all the manual cars before I bought my current Subaru WRX 2 weeks ago.

I don't get the stigma against Subarus but it does not bother me.

I’m not sure how it started, but my neighbor got one and she says everyone tells her that she drives a lesmobile. I just thought it was funny.
Good cars from what I know.
