Question for geeks in insurance field

Recommended Posts

I know there's alot of factors, including sex, that go into calculating premiums and coverage.  How does the insurance industry handle all the trans/fluid/non binary shenanigans?

You are male or female.  Period.

So, no matter what drugs you've pumped or surgeries you've had, your sex at birth is the determining factor?

No. Drugs and meds are covered under a different set of questions.

Sorry, my question was vague.  I meant your sex at birth is the determining factor of whether the insurance company classifies you as male or female?

I’ve started asking if they have a Y chromosome or not. No? Ok you’re female.

Is that what it takes? Switched insurers recently and it was a huge pain—guess I should’ve put out

I’m given 2 options to the gender question-  Male or Female.  The question does not ask what gender you were you at birth.  In my 25 year career I’ve never disbelieved someone’s gender I was told.  It’s been quite evident in my experience so far.

Its a good idea to consider becoming transgender when filling out insurance applications, in order to save a few bucks. Since gender is fluid, you can change back as soon as you put the pen down. Another perk of doing this is it allows you to climb to the top of the victim hierarchy and everyone respects you for being brave.

Insurance just seems to be a modern version of protection money.  Doesn't really do anything for you, but you are forced to have it.

Imagine Einstein's mother saying "Oh how nice! You discovered the theory of relativity.  But you wasted your life on that when you could have been an insurance adjuster!"
