They have been solid as can be on pitcher K and goalie save props. The first night of NBA I went 6-2. The night you are referencing was a dumpster fire. I did relatively well, nothing amazing, but I was going with my own knowledge only and I think playing too many was detrimental. If there was a site dedicated to player props where I could pick the 10 best ones each night, I could see myself getting back into it.
