***80s Hair Rock Song Draft***

I was scrolling through the wiki list closer for ideas for Tommy's extra round for artists not taken (if we do that). Steel Panther isn't listed under "S' but if you keep going to "Z" and keep going beyond it, there's a section for Glam Metal Revival Bands.

See for yourself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_glam_metal_bands_and_artists

Steel Panther is listed there clearly by name.

But that’s a different list altogether. When you to Z our list was over.

Sounds like I have it out for Sux or Steel Panther and I really don’t. Just was playing by the rules.

I think  I see the confusion. You didn't realize that there were two lists, not one, and that the name could appear on either.

Also, I don't think you had it out for Sux and from what he's posted, it looks like he sees it that way too.

I'm getting everything updated. Let me know what you guys want to do in terms of bonus round, 1 or 2 round voting, and sex panther.

Actually, no. that link does look like Wikipedia, if so it's the right place.

It's not under "S", scroll down to "Z".

One entry, see Zebra? Now keep going.... You should see more names under the title:  Glam Metal Revival Bands.

@BeenHereBefore

Did I mess up or did you not draft 1989?

He has Skid Row's I Remember You IDed as 1989. (I didn't check, seems about right though)*

*Actually I didn't confirm hardly any. I just looked up some wildcards for housekeeping purpose that, by their nature, don't even need dates. For the dates that mattered, I didn't look up any. I put everyone on the honor system, accepting whatever you guys told me. The one problem we had, it was Herbie who caught Bunny on the Scorpions pick being mis-yeared, not me. I was too busy admiring the choice.

Two rounds of voting.

I don't know how to conduct the bonus round so that it's fair. I found seven songs by seven bands but there's a huge discrepancy in how much I like song one from how much I like song seven. Is it fair that someone goes first and someone goes last?

Maybe just go with the teams we drafted then.

Maybe no order. We can just pick any song by any band, first come first serve. Bands can overlap. If I take Elvis' "Jailhouse Rock" OK I locked that paricular song up, but not all Elvis. You can still take "Don't Be Cruel"

Another idea is to re-randomize the roll from the site I gave you earlier.

Since we have more information that wasn't available at the time the pick was rejected, and we never did clarify if the bottom of the page qualifies or not, we can toss this one back into bostonlager's lap.

You know, Sux DID make an 18.3 pick. Unfortunately, it was a song already taken in the 9th round. I was online at the time and tried to get his attention to pick again because I know how small his online window is. I failed, and he disappeared offline without a response. I thought "here comes another 18 hours until we hear from him again."😮

Anyway, I started combing over that page closer because we may do that bonus round you suggested and if so, I wanted to see which bands never got selected. That's when I saw Steel Panther on the bottom of the page in the other category. It made me pretty happy, I thought their presence there solved our problem, we could give Steel Panther to Sux without bending the rules. You're right that Bostonlager never did weigh in though on if that additional section qualified or not. That we disagree on whether or not it should is the crux of the problem.

when do we post it? You have three things to do first. One is decide on Sux's roster. re-examine and decide if Sux's Steel Panther pick meets the rules criteria or no. Get him to re-pick if needed since his otherwise 16th rounder was invalid. The second is decide if we're doing the bonus round or not and the rules for that. I gave some suggestions you can take both,  one or neither and make your own. Or just scrap the idea. The third is decide if you want to do waivers or not. Waivers should go after the bonus round if we do both.

Solve those issues and then post the vote immediately after.

how long is the voting open? Lock the voting thread when it falls off of page one.

top 3 go the the finals, what are tiebreaker rules?
Take any tied for third into the next round.

Got it. @TommyGavin let it go, Steel Panther for Sux should stand.  I will run thru the picks for year issues. Eyeball test.

And there's a fourth. This is good and we can wait for Herbie. Yearly selections were made on the honor system. I don't know if bostonlager was verifying them along the way, I only know that I did not.

I came up with rules for a bonus round. It requires two selections, if you can’t get your first choice, you automatically get your second. That may trigger a cascade effect. If that fails to resolve, the thing collapses. Tiebreakers would be decided randomly. I’ll tell you more when I get home.

The concept revolves around sending two songs by two different undrafted bands to the GM.

OK, I have some time.

The idea of the bonus round, if it works, is to get seven new songs by seven bands that weren't drafted.

It starts with each one of us going over the bands that never got selected and making two selections. Choose two songs by two different artist and send them to commissioner (or me if he wants me to handle it). I chose Elvis "Jailhouse Rock" and Little Richard "Long Tall Sally." When all seven participants have made their choices, the commish shows us what we sent him. The bonus round only produces one song per artist. So if I want Elvis "Hound Dog" and you want Elvis "Jailhouse Rock" we don't both get Elvis, we have to go to tiebreakers.  If an infinite loop develops that cannot be resolved in such a way that someone cannot get either of those two choices, then we've fail and the process aborts.

Ideally, we get seven different bands selected with top priority. Then it's clean. When things get messy is if there is a tie at #1 or worse, two ties or a three way tie.
The first tie-breaker is avoiding an infinite loops. if one result creates an infinite loop, take the other result. If both result in an infinte loops, we've failed and must  abort.

The second tie-breaker decides the outcome randomly random. We'll have to use some coin flip/dice roll or something.

Whoever loses a tiebreaker, automatically gets their second pick. This means their second pick gets priority over somebody else who has a first round pick, which then triggers their own second pick and potentially another person to switch to their second pick.

I hope it's clear. It's the best I can think up.
