It's like what  Been Here Before says about Sister Christian and Rock of Ages, I have certain tiers and as the draft goes down away  and back up to my corner again, everybody else knocks out the tiebreakers along the way, it adds some clarity.

I'm good with 1982, unless folks start diving back in for some reason, I'm confident that I'm going to get a song I really like there at some point. 

I'm pretty sure that Pick 16.7, Mr. Irrelevant, is going to be 1981. I've checked out those albums from the other bands that were taken that year, hoping something would move me... none did. I mean they're good songs, I wouldn't change the station if they came on, but nothing close to what I'm taking right now.

Correct - a few stragler bands were still making hair in the early 90s before Nirvana took a shotgun to the genre.

We're going to get a lot if excellent music left of this list due to length constraints, we have to pull the plug at some point. The 1982 song I put on will get there because its year wins as a tiebreak. I'm going to love my '82 selection.. It's how Affirmative Action is supposed to work, moving the tiebreaker to the top of the list. By contrast, 1981 is going to be Affirmative Action at it's worst... here's some sh*t I saw laying around, it registered some online acclaim although it doesn't do much for me. Other people like it, I saw the comments under it on YouTube raving about how awesome it is. Maybe you agree, but I'm just trying to meet a quota.

I live in China. The only music I listen to is online and prior to 1992, selected by me. So I never burn out on anything.

I do understand what burning out on music is, I really liked Billy Joel's Keeping the Faith, but back in the day, MTV put it onto such heavy rotation that I wanted to put my head through the TV screen.

That song I originally sent you, that I changed my mind on, was a song that was drafted for votes. 80-82 are tough years. I'll explain it later why I changed it, but part of the motivation was I wanted the song I love. I do know that you liked my original song a lot.

My favorite Warrant song is "Sometimes She Cries" but I know full well that I'm in a small minority. If/when I pick Warrant, I'm going to pick something to impress you guys not to make myself feel better. I have to balance what I love with popularity of the song.

I spent 1990-92 in the Army in Germany including, from there, a stint running around the desert for the Gulf War. When I came back, I'd felt that the music industry had gone to sh*t. My musical tastes were already going out of date before I was even old enough to buy alcohol yet. I wasn't into grunge, so I spent the later half of the 90s tuned into the classic rock stations.

I was in a music store looking for something I didn't have, and was going through the $1.99 bargain bin to see what I could find. What's this thing? Tattooed Millionaire by Bruce Dickinson. "Bruce Dickinson? Isn't he the guy from Iron Maiden? I think so." I turned the album over, I didn't see a single song on it I recognized. The album had come out while I was out of the country. "Alright, I guess I'll take this."

I know we are in the minority and most people today make fun of this era, but in my opinion, this is the best music ever made and it will never be beat.
