How many rounds per day are we doing ?

I don't think we need to be in a rush. Most of us check in a few times each day so we can play it by ear. 1 round a day should probably be the minimum pace.

Cool and that is what I was hoping for.

1.1 Voltaire - Guns 'N Roses -  "Welcome to the Jungle"  - 1987

I've been doing some research, we may want to alter it a bit to the years 1983-1992.

There were fewer hair bands in 1980-2 and the ones there were active, IMO, made their best music later in the decade. It's like taking three kickers.

I didn't want to go first because there is a tier of like a dozen great songs I could have went with any of them and been satisfied. It's not like Marshall Faulk circa 2001. I was unsure what to do. In the end,  I just went with a top band in the genre and picked a song by them that I really like and also one that I know has broad critical appeal as well.

Thing is use your wildcards on those early 80's rounds like you did . I have a 80 in mind but may go wildcard for the next two years after.

We all have have to think on how we want to do it and how to prioritize.

"This song, if it were made in 1986, probably wouldn't get picked at all. It's also only about my eighth favorite song by this band. Still, it is also "the best"  song (IMO) of this year. Do I take it even though I like all these other songs better, or do I risk somebody else gobbling it up?"

There is the strategy and the fun of it.

When bostonlager took Ozzy off the list, identified by name, he took Blizzard of Oz and Diary of a Madman off the table. I think those two albums would have been the first place I'd have looked for 1980 and 1981.

Yea Crazy Train would have been a great pick for 80.

I kinda have a problem having Ozzy out  but GNR in. We are going to have ALOT of these arguments- why can’t solo Ozzy be included ? Even if you deem his first 2 solo albums not good there is others songs I would consider 80’s from Ozzy albums.
Let’s discuss

1, The list you provided (excluding a couple) and the list SUX linked look pretty good. Alice N Chains, Pantera, Ozzy Osburne, and Ugly Kid Joe are not hair. I'm okay with all the rest from the wiki link or don't know them.

2. We will have a requirement from 80 to 89. Songs in the previous or latter decade will need to be one of you wildcards

3. For an even snake we can do 16 rounds and add one more wildcard

4. Doesn't matter to me. 2 cap works.

Already BS. If you can’t use Ozzy and LF for a classic 1988 hit then I am out. That’s ultimate 80’s Hair Band song. (Not that I would use it at #1) but if I can’t use that I’m out. Sorry guys.

All I know thought this was about 80's hair bands and not single artist ? Again I didn't make the rules.

So Ozzy played guitar, bass, and drums???

I'm mailing it in cause everyone arguing the rules. I did not make the rules at all but notice on this board the last couple years members here don't understand the difference from a band or a solo artist that use to be with a band.

Was a nice try to make this work.

Doomed from the start. Just like the Chess tournament we (some) signed up for but never made it out of the gate.

Not only that but when Ozzy first started it was considered a band, The Blizzard of Oz, only a little later did it morph to Ozzy solo.

I'm fine with Ozzy if you phags want him in, but the rules got posted two days prior and it would have been nice to hear objections then.
