WhiteWonder 2,685 Posted May 24, 2022 I will admit there are at least 5 more id like to draft. Some not really great movies but nostalgic. also the movie I thought was round 10 worthy is still out there. I’m curious if people don’t think it’s any good, forgot about it (unlikely) or think it will cost them in the voting

With the exception of Buckaroo Bonzai (which I meant to pick a completely different movie but I'm an idiot) I just drafted movies I enjoyed watching back then. I wasn't factoring in votes. Either we have the same taste in movies or we don't. Its all good.

Three in particular I thought would go earlier. PM me. Just curious if’s what I was thinking. Won’t use it if we decide an extension. I also have a really stoopid idea for fun and sh!ts and giggles. Could be a lot of fun. A second stand on its own draft. Short and simple. It involves all of our picks. I’ll share the idea after the last pick.

I mean I’ve not drafted any movies I didn’t enjoy or love… some to fit categories I went with ones I personally thought were okay but figured others Might hold in higher regard? So I’m that sense I’ve done a little drafting to try and “win” so to speak.

I passed on quite a few I thought were block busters at the time but didn’t REALLY excite me for my taste in movies. I won’t comment on those few till the draft and voting are final. I’m am proud of us for passing on some. Three in particular that weren’t drafted.

I've got an animation that needs taking and I'll need 5 Wildcard since, in my worthless opinion, you guys botched the Drama category so hard, two won't be enough. “Botched” is a harsh word. In 1980 I was eleven. My Moms two good friends were sisters. Mom says Ms. Ruth opened a high end liquor store and her sister Ms. Pat opened a book store in the same small new strip mall. Wanted to know if me or any of my friends wanted to stock shelves at the book store, The Little Professor and maybe end up doing some stocking at the liquor store. I jumped on it. Ms. Pat hires me to stock incoming books and magazines. Said for every hour I worked she’d let me pick a magazine or kids book. I was in two days a week for two to three hours. It’s how I got my Mad Magazines. Stocking Clio Notes and whatever. I had a masterful plan for my future. Working at the liquor store next door when I turned fifteen. Woo ha ha!!! Then fire intervened and the six stores burned to the fawking ground as some a-hole tried to break into the jewelry store with a blow torch. Devastated I re-grouped. my friends Dad opened a small video store. He called and knew I worked at the Little Professor for peanuts and asked if I wanted to come in twice a week to restock the shelves and rewind VHS tape’s. Payment… all the vids I wanted to watch and a cash bonus every month. Me: I’m in. But I know you have a small pron collection in the way back. I’ll do it if I get one to watch every two weeks and you don’t need to pay me cash. Deal done. Negotiation 101. Now mind you, the majority of his small collection of pron was late seventies. But the clintelle wanted what was available. Older pervs would come in and ask “You have Debbie Does Dallas???” Or, “Deep Throat???” When the customers came to drop the tapes, he’d rename them pron names. Saturday Night Fever became Saturday Night Beaver. And a few many more. I was thinking to do an eighties version of this.

Voltaire 5,207 Posted May 25, 2022 I just flipped Dirty Harry to Crime and Naked Gun to Mystery. I think that I'm better off with a crime drama than a crime comedy going against those heavyweights in the Crime category.

I've got an animation that needs taking and I'll need 5 Wildcard since, in my worthless opinion, you guys botched the Drama category so hard, two won't be enough. So, let me explain this a bit... We have in this decade ten Academy awards for best picture. it's basically always a drama. I took five of those, bostonlager took one, we left four on the table: Ghandi, Out of Africa, Driving Miss Daisy, and Ordinary People. Especially focking Ghandi! I remember when this came out. It was a huge sensation, it was epic. Then Ghandi went on to win seven Academy Awards ... and you guys leftundrafted

I think a lot of us took movies we watched and like and Ghandi wasn't one of them. I seen it back in the 80's and just didn't do it for me and same for Ordinary People I just watched the first time a few years ago. On Golden Pond I wanted and like that movie but thought it would have been around to a later round. The big name movies I took I watch them all and like them. On Golden Pond was a great choice and was the favorite for the AA that year. My Left Foot was another great Drama. You were solid in that category. edit :sorry thought I was replying to Bunny.
