Guys who wear their sunglasses on the brim of their baseball cap

Recommended Posts

The rest of us would prefer if you secure people would groom yourselves so we don't have to look at your ugly faces and messy hair everywhere we go.  Or just put on a hat.  And take a shower.  Thank you in advance.

I don't really get why someone would would feel the need to fix up their hair unless it's for something special.  If you're going on a date or something like that then I get it.  Depending on the job you have I think it makes sense.  Going to the grocery store or something like that I don't think requires it.

Is the grocery store outside?  I was taught to never wear a hat indoors so one should comb their hair…

Never wear a hat indoors?  That's ridiculous.  I'm wearing a hat at my desk at work right now.

It’s a military thing. You wouldn’t understand.

None of us are in the military so it doesn't matter.

My father was and that is one of the things he instilled in his children...  Also, I was in ROTC in college for a year as well...

I guess I don't really understand the issue that some people have with wearing a hat.  I understand the military point of view but once you're a civilian it doesn't really matter any more.

I don't care if someone wears a hat indoors or not, that is their choice...  I just know that I won't...

The hat thing is interesting to me.... a lot of silly, antiquated social "norms" still exist. Like not wearing a hat indoors.

obviously if you work in a professional, office setting.. 99% of the time you wouldn't wear a hat. Either because its in a dress code or because you want to look professional. You wouldn't wear a hat (as an identifying man) to a wedding or a funeral. In a nice restaurant...

It should be a 'read the room' decision.

I'm not taking my hat off to go to a grocery store, home depot, or any place for errands. I might have a hat on at a bbq or other less formal social gathering. If im going to a dive bar for some beers with friends I might even wear a hat (although it's often after golfing).

I wouldn't wear a hat on a first date... or most dates... but I'm sure there have been dates where I have. Date at a baseball game, a hiking date (yeah, sadly i've done that). Clearly it's situational.

for some reason I always remember how weird it was that as a kid, I was allowed to wear a hat in elementary school. All the boys wanted to wear hats of their favorite teams, of course. I had a hat on all day, every day. Then we went off to middle school and hats were not allowed. Had to be left in your locker. After 3 years of that nonsense, hats were allowed again in high school. :dunno:.  At that point I mostly didn't choose to wear one but sometimes I would especially if running late. Very easy to just plop on a hat. Same with early morning classes in college.

Do you wear one while while eating? At a restaurant?

Depends on the restaurant.  If I know I'm going to a nice place then I won't have one on when I leave the house.  If it's like an Applebee's or something then I'm wearing a hat.

I like that scene in the Sopranos when Tony tells the hat doosh he’s not at the ballgame and to take his hat off.

I know you're asking hawkeye but i'll chime in based on my post above.  It's situational.  Any kind of nicer restaurant for a date or someone's birthday or other special occasion? of course not.  Local bar/restaurant after a round of golf with the boys... probably not taking it off.

if i'm home and I know i'm heading out to eat, I change / clean up / leave whatever I have on based on where im going, and what the situation in.

You get it. Lots of trash don’t. If you’re being served food at a sit down restaurant take it off.

Buffalo Wild Wings is a sit down restaurant, do you take it off there?

Of course. It’s a sign of respect. I respect people that work.

What does wearing a hat have to do with respecting the people working.  It's a place to eat and watch sports and hats usually go with sports.  I think it's mostly common sense, if it's a place you would get dressed up for then you probably shouldn't wear a hat.  Regardless, if someone wants to wear a hat into a building I don't really care, for the most part.

Good for you. I guess peoples standards are just different.

Why do you guys wear hats?  Fashion accessory?

I like wearing hats to keep the sun off my face and random things out of my hair when I'm doing things outside like yard work or fishing.  It's become a habit and comfort thing now.  When I go out it's more of a fashion accessory.

Standards or opinions?  Saying standards makes you sound pretentious.  If you have the background where you never wore hats inside then I think that makes sense.  I don't think it makes sense to expect others to do the same though.

If you went to a Buffalo Wild Wings to watch a football game, you're telling me you would make everyone at your table remove their hats?

They would be asked. Once. My friends wouldn’t do it though.  So if you’re joining us, welcome. Now take it off or go sit somewhere else. Thanks. And yes, this has happened once.

Interesting.  I'm learning more about the type of person you are.

I took my mom to a Yankee game about ten years ago. The guys next to us were cursing, a lot. I asked them to stop. Am I dooshbag there too?

No, as long as you were polite.

Did you ask them to take their hat off too?

That's your opinion.  I don't know anyone that feels the need to have others remove their hats in the situation I mentioned in order to be respectful.  I find it respectful to remove one's hat for the National Anthem, for prayer, at a wake, etc...

I would find it very odd for anyone to remove their hat when watching a game together just because we are indoors at a sports bar.  I would find it rude if that person asked me to remove mine or leave.

No. It’s appropriate to wear a hat there. Stupid question. And I always start out polite.  But firm.

I’m not asking, well insisting, others do it in the bar. We’re talking about my table.  You will also be expected to be polite and gracious to the staff. You’ll be corrected about that too if you don’t. Unless they give you a reason not to be. But I’ll probably beat you to it.  I’m such a doosh. I guess that’s why when my friends and i go to a bar the staff is happy to serve us.
