I'm pretty sure I'm the authority on this. I blame it all on Scrappy Do.

Always have.

Always will.

Think about it. World went to s*** right about that time.

F***** is worse than Thanos.

The Gen X'ers I know are cynical and laid-back. I appreciate them :D

The WWII and Korean war generation chased peace and material comforts with a fervor, and as a result boomers tended to be coddled. Boomers went all in on yuppie, upwardly mobile stuff, and to conserve time, culturally normalized letting kids do their own thing. Domesticity became really untrendy. That's my understanding of super general generational dynamics.

The generation before yours thinks you were soft too. And the generation before them thinks they were soft. ....it's a cycle.

In general, I would probably agree with you. But I can guarantee you the generation right now? Doesn't think my generation was soft. Stupid? Yes. Because of endless stupid wars. And environmental retardedness. But not soft. In fact, we scare them because we're just harder and tougher. And, in their view? Much meaner.

its all relative.  50 years before genx, kids would ride their bikes down the street with rifles hanging off the handlebars.  a cop would stop them and ask where they were going and the kids would say "were off to the woods to go hunting!" the cop would say "have a good time!"

WWII and korean war generation attempts to create a utopia so future generations dont have to struggle like they did.  what they REALLY created was a NEST.  And animals always flee the nest to carve out their own place in the world.  Domesticity is really just the nest they are fleeing.

I'll add in....kids also need to be told "This is why you got spanked..." Fear is a helluva tool when a kid is 3-12. But once they hit the teenage years and start getting to be more forward in their thinking they need to have that voice in their head that says "Remember when dad, or mom, told you that this action has a consequence."

This is hilarious.
