NY has nothing to be ashamed of. Team made huge strides and made it to the DIV round.

That being said, you guys are in spot that looks almost identical to what DAL faced a couple years ago with Dak and Zeke. Is Danny a franchise QB? Prolly not, but do you pay him? What's the alternative? You will be drafting 25th, no chance of landing a new QB there. Gonna trade for one, pick up one in FA? It's a tough spot - exactly what Jerry faced. Barkley? He's not gonna be cheap - paying RBs huge 2nd deal money is always dicey.

I don’t think DJ can ask for the contract that Dak did.  Dak was more successful when he got his new deal. Need a top flight WR and interior line upgrade on offense and a whole new LB corp on D. Barkley will be interesting I agree.

Same with the jags.  Talking to the fans at the game yesterday, they expected to lose and were just happy to be there :dunno:

I feel like they have to resign Jones, what's the alternative? It may ultimately be a mistake but it's probably the right call today.

Saquon, He's amazing but am I giving a RB a long term deal, hell no! Especially with all the holes they need to fill.

The alternative is bottom out instead of being mired in mediocrity for 3 years because the team is in cap hell.

They should resign Jones, he's a franchise QB and proved it this season.  I would also resign Barkley as he's the heart of this offense, not a Zeke type deal but something fair, he should come back.

Ultimately I trust Joe Schoen based on what he did his first year here.  I met Joe over the summer, school his hand and looked him in the eye, he's a good dude.  I thanked him for turning the team around and he said, "well we haven't even played a game yet so hold off on the thanks"

I'm optimistic for next year for the first time in years.

And yeah, fock the eagles.  Go niners

Oh okay.  Then I guess it makes sense to give Daniel Jones $35M a year.

You're the last person that should talk about this since you have no idea how the salary cap even works.

And that's why they're in this position to begin with. I would also extend Kenny Golladay while you're at it.

I guess people haven't figured out the nfc east had the easiest schedules in the league and that makes them look better than they are.

No it's not.  They have a poverty roster because gentleman joined in "win now" mode and handed out dumb contracts like solder and golladay. It's not Barkley's fault.

Golladay will be cut

You are dead balls on. Everyone and their dog says not to resign mediocre qbs - cool I get it, sound plan. Problem is the alternative is damn near as bad.

When you move on from a QB you have 3 basic options: draft a new kid, trade for one or sign in in FA.

QBs aren't RBs, there's not 10 coming out every year who can step right in and be just fine. NY will be drafting towards the bottom of the 2023 draft - chances of finding one there is almost zero. Ok, so gonna trade for one? Who you gonna go get? Anyone worth a fock is gonna cost you out the ass. Wiling to give up 1st and 2nd rounders for a dude nobody is really sure of either? Then you're left with signing one via FA. Name the cheap ass FA QB who you're willing to pay - Lamar, Brady, Jimmy G, Baker, Geno Smith? There's a reason these dudes are gonna be free - and some won't come cheap either.

Not as simple or cut and dry and all want to believe.

If only the Giants had some WR like Toney that plays for the Chiefs

seriously though, I knew he was going to be good when he was with them, what happened?

Well, he showed up for his first camp and couldn’t practice because his cleats didn’t fit. Then he was “hurt” all the time. And he was a lockeroom cancer more concerned with his rap career than rehabbing his phantom injury. They tried with him. He didn’t. So they got what they could and moved on. Some guys aren’t a fit. He’ll probably do fine with an all world QB.

Toney wasn't a locker room cancer with the giants.  He was well liked by his teammates.  They tried real hard to make him part of the team, everything from playing his music during practice to having designed plays for him.  There were several problems though.  He never fully bought in.  He was hurt and never fully tried to get healthy, he showed a lack of effort and understanding throughout this season, never gave it his all.  Plus he was drafted by the old GM, and the new GM drafted a player with similar skill set.

I don't believe that toney will ever be a consistently productive player in this league, with the chiefs or elsewhere.

I just can’t buy into the Eagles as a true contender but they’ll be better. All the attention is on AJ Green but the D got better at all three levels. I’ll say 10-7 and maybe they win a playoff game. I think Philly is looking for a new QB next year but I hope I’m wrong.

I think you are wrong.

It should be a close game.  Chargers could win.  After that they have:

Jax

Cle

Sea

Bye

@ Atl

If they aren't 6-2, or at a minimum 5-3 then something is wrong.  You should be used to this by now though, often regular season champs (at least until Mahomes arrived), then choke in the playoffs.

Nailed this one

What I've been most impressed with by the Chiefs is how they basically turned entire units around in an offseason.

Two years ago the offensive line was the weakest link, they go trade for Orlando Brown, sign Thuney via free agency, and nail the Humphrey and Smith draft picks and the o-line is now a strength.  The Bengals had the same issue last year and tried to upgrade in the offseason and if you watched the game yesterday you couldn't tell.

This year it's basically the receiving unit and secondary after Hill and Mathieu leave.  Yet looking at the Smith-Schuster and MVS additions along with rookie Skyy Moore, and what the Chiefs did with acquiring Justin Reid and the rookie corners they selected and these units played at an extremely high level last year.

Having Mahomes will get you so far, but it only gets you so far.  Team strength is extremely important, and IMO the Chiefs are doing as well as anyone fielding a top notch roster across positions.

Man I'm a smart, in tune homer

It finally feels like this season is over and what a great one it was.   Every single bit of chiefs attire is dirty and time to do laundry.   Yesterday was nuts, people more jam-packed than you can believe, cold, wet but it was great.   Two ladies about got into a fight in front of me, and it went something like this:

Smaller drunk girl bumps into my buddy trying to get through.   He let's her pass but there we two sisters in front of us enjoying their day, and drunk girl belly bumps one of them to get past.

"You can say excuse me!!"

" excuse me, KAREN!"

the sister proceeds to put her stuff down and I'm about to see them throw down.   Didn't happen but fock what a sh1tshow.  I don't see how people think it's a good idea to bring kids and strollers, but they do.

Now we have an entire off- season to enjoy it.   And the draft kicking off in kc in just a couple months.

The players kept bringing up how this was a rebuilding year for kc.  I wish every year was a rebuilding year.   Time to run it back.

there is a real chance the #1 overall pick will be traded in the 2023 draft.  if im the giants, i send a boatload of picks to the bears to get it.  losing a lot of picks isnt as bad as you might think.  especially with a talented head coach thats only 47.  rip the band aid off, get it done early in the head coaches career.

drafting a qb top 5 has about a 50% succes rate.  outside of that quickly drops to about 1 in 30.  the last place you wanna be is constantly taking qbs in late round 1 to round 3 for 15 years and suddenly reaizing you just wasted an excellent head coach.  some people get caught up in the mahomes or wilson scenarios and forget all of the faliures drafted in that area.

Those are some great stats. But I’ll go ahead and judge the specific team we are talking about.
