That 3 wood was my first ever name brand club. Used it as my driver as a junior golfer.

I’m drunk WW, but if memory serves me correct you’re from Jersey and a Mets fan. Here is my Bertha and Strawberry rookie cards.

41-39 this morning. 3-putt double on the first has me kicking myself. Feel like I’m starting to put things together.

Played for only my 2nd time in the past month last night.

I was texting with WW while I played the 1st few holes.

Blue tees 4,4,5,5,4,4,5,4,6 (had to take unplayable on 9, should have had a 5 but missed a 6 foot putt)

Lowest score ever for 9 holes at this course. 41 :first:

Was a league match, same handicap. I beat the guy 7 to 2 (1 pt for win 1/2 for tie)

I shot an 88 a week or so ago… but when I went to the bar afterwards, I found out if you came from playing golf and bring your scorecard, your second round is free.

I now have a collection of blank scorecards in my car

Headed out soon to play a course about a half hour away that we all enjoy.  Some how we got 2 foursomes of players to go out and play this late in the year.  I drew the lowest handicap on my team.  My handicap is somewhere in the middle of this group.  Needless to say ill have to be the scorer a bit.  2 man best ball.

Im not driving so first beer will be drank in the shower here shortly.

Shower beer is a top 5 beer. I usually save those for vacation when getting ready for dinner.

Anyone play or ever try the Qi10?

Had an outing on Monday and won the long drive... the prize was a TaylorMade Qi10 LS (low spin) Driver.  9 degrees, Tensei Blue stiff shaft. https://www.taylormadegolf.com/Qi10-LS-Driver/M1405709.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=mtw+dri+qi10+pds+ggl+conv+gen+shp&gad_source=1

I've yet to hit it, my current gamer is the TaylorMade M2 from 2016 and I was not looking to buy a new driver..... but I'll certainly take a free $630 club.  The specs are all what I would normally get but the LS model has the extra adjustability crap that I don't really like or use. The sliding weight in the sole of the club, for example. Guess I can just leave it set neutral and forget about it.

Was thinking maybe i'll hit the PGA Superstore and test it out as well as some other models and try to swap it if I don't like it.

Funny that the prize for winning long drive at outings is always a new driver

Putter is the winning prize at most tournaments I play in with a long drive prize.

The ones I play in always seem to do putter or wedge for closest to the pin and drivers for longest and straightest. Seems counterintuitive.
I wasn’t in the market to replace mine but am nearing the point where the tech might be beneficial.

To move this chat out of the edex thread…

I decided to keep the Qi10. It’s a little less forgiving than the M2 but when dialed in it launches 🚀. Have only been able to use it indoors with trackman. Eagerly awaiting these bitter temps to end.

I still need to find a 3 wood I trust consistently.

I played between 15-20 times last winter as it was super duper mild. Haven't played since my birfday (November 2nd) this year. Stupid snow.

I went with this. I use an app for yardages and get tired of digging it out of the cup holder every shot.

It’s a must if you’re going to play in tournaments. I have one buddy that is too lazy/cheap to signup so he gets to sit on the bench several times during the season while the rest of us play in events.

I'm more lazy than cheap, plus I had been toying with joining a club and signing up through there.  Finally said fock it and just joined the E-club.

I don’t. My golf buddies all use some desert fox one that straps to the side of a cart

Desert Fox Phone Caddy

you can get plain black or other solid colors for a few bucks cheaper probably.

With the way we drive when sober (like a-holes) and drunk (intoxicated a-holes), I wouldnt trust a magnetic mount 😆

I got invited to a tournament at a really nice course out here, free food and booze all day.

noticed they were setting up a putting contest. was about a 80 foot putt, uphill with break. I grabbed my buddy and we practiced for about 30 minutes. Everyone in the tournament took 1 putt,  I won :first:  $150 gift card.  cost me 225 for new golf shoes

Let’s be honest. How cool is the TGL?  Such a cool event to segue into the proper PGA Tour.

My buddy has a speaker with a magnet. I've been 18 beers deep driving the cart like Bo and Luke Duke with no issues. Phone holder should be ok I would think.

@BiffTannen, moving the driver discussion here.

My son just bought a used driver, but I have no idea what.  I'm hitting balls with him tomorrow, I'll find out then.

Basically he needs a stiff shaft, maybe extra stiff.  He bought his starter Callaway set from Costco last year; I suggested he get the stiff shafts online, but he ignored me since I'm his father and bought the regular shafts they had in the store.  Our instructor told him he swings way too hard for such a shaft, and suggested a few older clubs which he feels compare nicely to newer technology.  One of them was the Ping G400, from 2017 I think.  I stumbled on one at a PGA Superstore last week killing time between appointments and hit it; I thought it was OK, not nearly as nice as the used TaylorMade QI10s they had next to the bay.

I can't say I've ever really hit Titleist clubs, so I'll be interested in your opinion.

I just recently became a Titleist guy. Previous to that I was "sponsored" by Ping. Three years ago I went to get fit for new irons and had full intentions of getting the new at the time G425s, but they and I were not compatible. The fitter had me hit the new at the time 2021 model T300s and I fell in love. Got the 5 through PW, plus the 48 and 53 degree wedges.

The top shelf of my bag is TM - original Sim Max - D, 3, and 5. I also have the mini - burner they came out with last year in the old Burner Bubble paint scheme that I will replace the 3W with depending on the course I'm playing. I love the SIMs and likely will not purchase anything new, but I do like to go this time each year and test the new tech just in case.
