Couple things. Why the f*** does Anybody listen to Ben shapiro? And two isn't he canadian?

Shapiro is from California and had remained a Californian the entire time he's been in the public eye,  up until a few months ago.

He recently relocated his business to Tennessee and his family to Florida.

He’s thinking of Jordan Peterson. Most likely drunk on girl drinks again.

Shapiro is pretty good.  But i do not always agree with him.  I think he makes solid points on many fronts, but his religion creeps into to it here and there, though he professes to avoid that.

There should be ZERO laws on marriage.  None, in any way, shape, or form.  A marriage is a personal contract between 2 private citizens.  Period.  The government doesn't have to be involved.

Yeah, get rid of our culture. That's always the right thing to do.

Make something that was highly important and turn it into a meaningless transaction.

Take it completely off the tax books. Everyone files as an individual.

Same.  I'm amazed at how many times I type some profound, insightful post on these forearms, then later in the day listen to Shapiro to find that he made a similar point.  Every once in a while though he goes a little off the rails, like now.

That being said, he does have a bit of a point, but it is nuanced, sorta like my nuanced discussion about what is "normal" for a successful culture.  His premise is that the family is the basic "team" unit of society, and its primary purpose is to procreate and raise the young to be productive members of the larger society.  While "love" is an important component, it is not the most important.  Duty, commitment, unity... these are the bedrocks of a successful unit.  But our culture has been shifting over time away from these priorities; it is increasingly all about feeling happy in the moment.  IMO to him this "defense of marriage" act (which he calls "redefinition of marriage" act) is just another in a long line of things eroding the fabric of family.

Where I differ is I think you can have duty, commitment, and unity in a gay marriage, so I wouldn't throw the IVF baby out with the bathwater.

@TimHauckHow does  "you’re not a Republican if you support gay marriage bill" equate to "You should not be in the republican party." ?

This is more your speed:

Yes, it is comical that a leftists would dare to call out Shapiro for doing the same thing Biden did.

But I might counter with the point that conservatives need to be the adults, and not allow ourselves to participate in the same despicable actions as some of those on the left allow.

And I didn't vote for Trump. I'm a centrist who voted for Biden so I guess that gives me the right to criticize his policy and stand up for every policy Trump has ever put in place.

If I had to guess, that's probably why Shapiro phrased his statements the way he did.  Then again, maybe not.  Like what others have posted, from time to time, I think he does go too far on a religious slant for my tastes.  Overall though, I find that I agree with him a good part of the time.

Isn’t he Jewish?  Is that what you mean by religious slant?

Yes, on my part at least. He consistently avoid the logical fallacy of appeal to authority because of this very concern.  But he will stray into the religious aspects here and there, and I think it dilutes his logic.

Yeah, he's Jewish.  The issues I have with some of his stances are not so much of a "Jewish" slant, but I think he wants things more geared religiously than not.  I'm not a fan of that.  I think we should keep laws away from a religious perspective.  It's why I say that marriage of any type, does not belong under the government's purview.  All religions have their own views on that, so it's not just a Jewish, Catholic, Muslim, etc thing, it's just religious.  For the most part, all religions have the same backbone, it's just some differences here and there and no one really seems to be at odds with.
