What’s your favorite fish ?

That's my favorite as well.  I won some decent money the last two years catching bass off of beds.  I like to flip a jig just past them and then run it into them.  I'll just keep hitting them and dropping it on their head until they get pissed and bite it.  It can take up to a half hour but it's worth it in the end.  Always immediate catch and release.

I just know if I ever tried fishing for dough my luck would turn.  Fate likes to toy with me like that.  Now my brother, he can practically call them onto his stringer, and anything done for money only seems to enhance his luck.  .

I caught sharks fishing from a dock, trout fished from a kayak and snag fish in Michigan for salmon.

Beach fishing for sharks is fun, especially at night.

Everything except if you miss one and have to cast back out in the dark.

Although the night is when you catch the larger sharks.

It is funny, the difference between offshore fishing and surf fishing. Hooking into a 6+foot shark from the surf is fun. Hooking into a large shark when deep dropping for grouper

We usually Kayak out baits, as long as the surf isn't too bad

People down here kayak out baits as well, but there is difference between the surf in south Carolina and Texas.

In south Carolina it is a constant dropoff and I have caught decent sized sharks (4-7 footers) fairly close to shore.

In Texas there is a sandbar about 100 yards out where the water only comes up to your knees-waist.  Although you need to swim past a short stretch of water that can go over your head.

You have to get beyond that sandbar to catch the larger sharks here, although since we have redfish, black drum, and speckled trout in the surf in Texas I do not target sharks.

I would rather target gamefish over a larger shark. In the surf in south Carolina you don't catch crap for gamefish, but targeting large sharks is a pretty fun constellation.

I agree. Shark fishing is a not all that challenging here. You basically throw out a ladyfish or Jack and it's an almost instant hook up. It's more fun than anything.

North Carolina is even crazier. You can get 8 footers 50 yards off the beach all day.

Most of my fishing is in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota but I have fished the Boundary Waters before.  I've also done some fishing in South Dakota, Missouri and Louisiana.

Doing a fly-in fishing trip to Canada is at the top of my bucket list.  Was hoping to do it for my 40th birthday this year but the wife and I are going to Mexico.

During the summer I fish 2 days a week from my small cabin on Lake Sakakawea in ND.  18 ft fishing boat-nothing fancy.   Average catch in a 6 hour day-10 walleyes, 5 Northern Pike, 2 smallmouth bass, few shiners(goldeyes)- 2 people fishing.  Had days where 2 of us caught 50 walleyes.  I mainly troll with crankbaits(plugs).  I fish the Van Hook area so you can google it & see catches, reports, pictures, etc.

Walleyes average 2 lbs(caught them up to 11 lbs).  I've caught Northern up to 22 lbs.  Walleye is a white delicate flakey fish that is great.  Similar to cod but better.

Tight lines!

My In-Laws live in Beaufort, NC.  Its the southern most tip of the Outer Banks.  We would take the Skiff out to a little island called Sand Dollar as there were live and dead Sand Dollars all over it at low tide.  It's was not what I consider "inshore" but before you ran out to the inlet to the ocean. In between the inter-coastal waterway and the ocean.  Anyway we used to go there all the time, set up chairs and umbrellas with the little toddlers because there were little to no waves and you could just anchor up and let the kids play in the water.  We did that for years.

Several years later my FIL and wife decided we wanted to go Shark fishing as we simply never did it.  There was a local guy who did shark fishing tours so we went out one Saturday.  Guess where he took us first?  Straight to Sand Dollar Island.  :shocking: was the look on my wife's face.

Haha, that's awesome!!! It's crazy, I live not far from Beaufort, SC. Next town over pretty much.

North Carolina is probably the best shark fishing that I've ever experienced.

Related, but not I guess.

One of my dad's favorite meals was scallops. My mom did a good job with the little tiny ones that look like the size of a mini marshmallow. Best I could tell, butter white wine little lemon and dill.

Generally served it over angel hair pasta. Freaking delish.

And don't even get me started on the larger ones wrapped in bacon. Good God that's fantastic.

I don't know what it is. I just cannot get it right. Either dry and tough or under cooked.

Big fan of Scallops, several ways, but you are correct.  You want them cooked but they are easily overcooked. There is literally a 60 second window.

I've had good luck with both the silver and the green ones.  My brother has used a few other colors to success.  I go with the theory of I want my lures to resemble prey in nature yet i could not tell you if a bass or a trout sees color or just shape and flashing reflections of light.

I like smoked carp.  Put a little chunk of that on a cracker with some horseradish. Yum

Pickled pike is also very good.

When the kokanee run in the fall up on Grand lake CO you can catch your fill.  It is one of the few times I take more than I can eat that day. I do it because the smoke up quite well.  I smoke them, vacuum seal them, and use them on crackers right on through the superbowl most years.

When I was a poor high school student lived off flounder cooked in tin foil with red wine vinegar and sliced red onion- sometimes in the oven and sometimes over a wood fire down by the creek.
