thegeneral 3,092 Posted February 12 https://www.cnbc.com/2025/02/12/cpi-january-2025.html Shelter costs continued to be a problem for inflation, rising 0.4% on the month and accounting for about 30% of the entire increase, the BLS said. Food prices jumped 0.4%, pushed by a 15.2% surge in egg prices related to ongoing problems with avian bird flu that have forced farmers to destroy millions of chickens. The bureau said it was the largest increase in egg prices since June 2015 and it was responsible for about two-thirds of the increase in food at home prices. Egg prices have soared 53% over the past year. Markets tumbled following the news, with futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average sliding more than 400 points while bond yields scaled sharply higher. The Real timschochet 6,576 Posted February 12 Three things are causing inflation to rise: 1. Bird flu: Trump is not responsible but his decisions to pull out of WHO and cut funding to CDC are not helping. 2. Tariffs and threat of more tariffs: Trump is directly responsible. 3. Persecution of our undocumented work force: Trump is directly responsible.

Right now Trump is as popular as he’s ever been. A majority of the public like his energy and approve of the DOGE stuff. He’s riding high. But none of this will last if prices continue to rise. I dont think it was sabotage, there was a disease and they had to kill the birds off to fight that disease, I get the act. Sometimes things have to happen like this. I think pretending it is "Trumps fault" is telling in a few ways, 1) It means that Democrats CAN see prices.....but chose to ignore them for years under Biden. 2) It means Democrats are children, then already know that eggs prices have nothing to do with Trump 3) It means Democrats ARE indeed fiscally illiterate, and do not have an actual working understanding of economics. But I listened to a well known economist, Paul Krugman, the other day and he said that the threat alone creates instability which can cause prices to rise. That made sense to me. Perhaps you disagree but if you find it “illiterate” feel free to make your case.

You see, when Biden did this to energy as he entered the White House I immediately called this fact out. In Econ 101 back in the day, this was something covered in the first month. Now, at that time Biden was doing it to appease the climate nazi's, not to help anyone mind you, but to placate the radical elements of his party. Trump is using tariffs to benefit the American people, not to placate some radical element. And he has to fix the mess created by Biden you do not fix a mess without some pain and effort. So I accept that to unfock what Democrats have done will require this.

When you parrot "tumbling" for a 1% drop you are being led by the hand by the media and look foolish. Shows you aren't capable of independent thought. Scary but still shows how easily the media can influence simple minded people. 1% is NOT tumbling and certainly isn't anything to get all upset over. Yet...Here you are. Again, the important issue isn’t the reaction of stock market day to day it was that inflation is ticking back up. I can post another article that doesn’t highlight the stock market reaction if you like with the same information regarding inflation indicators.
