Lawyers for former President Donald J. Trump were expected to meet on Thursday with officials in the office of the special counsel, Jack Smith, as federal prosecutors edged closer toward bringing an indictment against Mr. Trump in connection with his wide-ranging efforts to overturn the 2020 election, according to three people familiar with the matter.

It was not immediately clear what subjects would be discussed at the meeting or if Mr. Smith would take part. But similar gatherings are often used by defense lawyers as a last-ditch effort to argue against charges being filed or to convey their version of events in a criminal investigation.

ABC News reported earlier that Mr. Trump’s lawyers had arrived at Mr. Smith’s office in Washington. They were seen driving into an underground garage shortly before 10 a.m.

Sorry you had difficulty following a long sentence, I don't consider reading disabilities that others may have when typing my posts. Also, some of us have concerns that override our portfolio gains, but I know that's not how you roll.

There is a 3rd person under indictment now: Carlos De Oliveira, another Trump lackey that tried to delete video footage of boxes being moved around by Trump’s valet Walt Nauta.

The percentage of federally indicted defendents who get acquitted if they go to trial is so infinitesimal that I don't see how he squirms out of jail time, considering the mountain of charges against him. If he were really innocent, he'd want speedy trials to get it out of the way for his 2024 campaign, but he's banking on dragging it out and having enough morons get him elected so he can pardon himself or whatever.
