Knives are killing people!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure anyone said that guns don't make it easier.  A bomb would be an easy way to kill lots of people too but can be dangerous to make.  I'm surprised we never see any mass poisonings, would be very easy to do.  It still all comes down to one common denominator, people.

If you aren't saying the bolded, then what's the point of all the "they will just use X" type of posts?  Especially knives.

I'll keep giving you the same answer.  Because it's a people problem, not a weapon problem.  Stop focusing on the weapons and focus on trying to fix the real problem.

Knives played a major role in killing 2977 people on 9/11.

Hijackers used knives & box cutters to hijack 4 aircraft. The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) later added knives to the prohibited items list.

Ban all knifes & box cutters now!

I will keep saying it as well then - it's both, because as you just admitted - it's easier to kill with guns.   So it's a people problem that is made worse with guns.

Basically what you are saying is that you agree with me, you just don't want to talk about one part of the issue, and keep not answering when I ask why.  I have theories, just curious why people on these boards continue to do so.

Largely, I think you make the incorrect assumption that somebody who even brings up guns is coming for yours!!

I don't believe anyone is coming for our guns.  I make fun of the paranoid people who think it will happen.  There are some people who would like it to happen though and I don't care for them.

You can care about your rights and freedoms while acknowledging that guns make murder easier. That’s just a fact.

It's just makes it easier to spot the people who 100% wouldn't sign of on any more laws or regulations that have to do with guns. Anything - storage, red flags, whatever.  It was the case on FBGs and I'd largely guess it's the case here, but I don't have as much back history so I am guessing more.   Over there the ones that "but knives!!" the most were the ones also admitting to keeping them unsecured or taking them places illegally.

People fought wars with spears and swords. But how could that even be? They didn't have guns.

It's amazing liberals still think guns kill people all on their own. Oof.

I am a parent who is concerned about school shootings and who is even more concerned that it's become common enough that we have to have shooter drills.   Hypothetically, say it's my #1 voting issue.   From where I sit, I see one side bringing up guns, reasons why, and more importantly - specific things that can be passed and put in action today.   The other side blames it on people and mental illness, but doesn't seem to have any more specific to say beyond that and I can't name you a law or regulation they are pushing to address it.

People that hard on your side of the issue really need to start talking specifics, or it's going to be a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy when people start getting more and more fed up and want at least SOMETHING done about it.   How long has it been since Columbine? Parkland?     Last I looked it just becoming more and more common - and here I am just talking about a small % of the gun deaths and murders.

I have two children in school, my wife is a teacher and on top of that I have friends and family across the country who are teachers, counselors and principals.  I know all too well about the concerns of school shootings and that's why I want these people stopped.

Holy overreaction Batman. What % of schools in America have school shootings every year?

Awesome, then start providing some actual stats, how you would address it - anything. I want that too.    Like I said - I see one side of this debate at least providing stats, regulations, specifics.  I don't agree with all of them, but it's at least SOMETHING.   The other side is largely giving me generic talking points like "fix people" "culture" "mental illness", but no specifics or plans how to do so.  I don't blame people at all for going with option 1 on this issue.

I'm not in a position to do anything about it.  I would like to see our stupid political parties work together to get something done.  So far all it's been is a political pissing match for years.

With the authoritarians the liberals have been putting into office, the right to bear arms will soon be all the American people have left.

And guns don't kill people, people kill people. Shocking, I know.

Is this an HT alias?   You read as well as he does - wow.

If I remember right about 200-300/year out of 110K+ schools.   Also if I remember right, that is about a 4X increase from just a decade or so ago.  Sorry I don't like kids dying at school if they don't have to?   This is a weird place.

Making up numbers doesn't help your point.

There have been 23 school shootings this year that resulted in injuries or deaths, according to an Education Week analysis. There have been 167 such shootings since 2018.

A decade ago did this country have guns? If yes, what's the cause of the increase you say? Hint, it's not guns themselves.

No, you are right - I was looking at victims/death and posted stats on shootings by accident.    Hence my comment at the end about not liking kids dying at school.

I have said repeatedly that it's not the guns, but they make the situation more deadly.  I have also said repeatedly that your side doesn't have any solutions on this issue I like (f0ck you idiots leading with more guards and locks as your primary solution).

We seem to at least agree that the rate has increased.  To me that tells me that we aren't doing anything or at least the correct thing on this issue currently.  I am simply asking you and your side of the issue what your specific solutions are to address this issue.  Hint:  "fix the people" isn't a specific solution.

Arm and train the teachers. And stop messing with kids minds with all the inclusion and diversity and sexual identity bs. Teach math, english, etc. and leave the complex personal and social issues to the parents and to the kids themselves. Teach normalcy.

Get kids off their phones and internet during school hours. Be tough on the basics of learning and respecting classmates and teachers.

Nothing else can be done. Teachers need to stop working so hard to influence kids with their personal social views. Stick to the basics.

An interesting analogy to make. Blades less than 4 inches were allowed prior to 9/11 and then were bared by the Feds after.

Right in the post you quoted.   The bolded is just that.  What that tells me is you are OK with the scenario of a person being to the point they want to shoot up a school, aquire the weapons to do so and arrive at the school.  You just want to make it a bit harder to kill as many kids when they get to that point.   No thanks, I'll focus on solutions before that.

The rest is just b.s., but I did laugh that you are trying to blame an issue that has been growing more and more for 2+ decades on things that largely weren't a thing in schools until a few years ago.   This issue a lot less common in red areas? You'd think those things would be more in play there and less tolerance for the things you are blaming the issue on.   Have you seen a correlation like that?

I gave you a solution. You are the bltch that keeps asking for one and I gave it to you. Stop focking kids up with liberal social views and teach teachers to handle tough situations.

You, another liberal, have nothing. Nothing. You are the idiots causing this. You even thought that there are 300-400 school shootings a year when there has benn less than 200 since 2018. So basically you thought there were thousands more school shootings than actually happened over the past 5 years. Focking idiot liberal.

You are uneducated and ill informed on the topic. I don't need to hear your inputs on this topic. Go away.

The lib teachers suck and are causing these problems - let's arm them and have them do that training instead!

I'm having trouble finding the link, but I'm sure I saved one regarding the FAA reaching out to airlines & suggesting that a handgun be placed in every cockpit on commercial airliners. Training would be provided. Pretty sure this was initiated shortly after the WTC parking ramp bombing in 1993. If memory serves, it was never initiated because none of the airlines were interested. No guarantee it could've prevented everything that happened on 911, but it might've helped substantially. I believe the bottom line is that we became too complacent. It rubs some people the wrong way, but we should've been profiling Middle Eastern men (@ airports) following the 1993 bombing.

Oh, do tell.    Unless you are advocating for hiring teachers without degrees - don't they come from those lib dominated places of higher education that you rail on and fostering the ideas you are railing against?   Yeah, I'm the dumbass - have you bothered to think any of your posts through.    You guys also actively laugh at a teacher for his choices and salary - yeah, I am sure you are going to be disappointed the pipeline of teachers don't think like you or share your values.
