***OFFICIAL PRESEASON THREAD***

Recommended Posts

Ehhh I dislike preseason but lets tall some football.

Homers welcome. Tell me about your team.

Packers had a joint practice with Cincy on Wednesday.   For the most part looks like Love was solid.  A few players on Cincy's defense praised him when asked to give their take.

He should play a few series tonight.

Watson has the higher ceiling.  But it will be interesting to see who becomes Love's go to guy out of he and Doubs.   Doubs has seemingly had a nice connection with him thus far.

Luke Musgrave the TE in the 2nd round is a freak.  Big dude who runs like a gazelle.  He will be split out a lot.  Real excited about him.

Also think Jayden Reed will eventually be a real player out of the slot.   Like his skillset and attitude.

Real young squad with a new QB.  There will be plenty of growing pains.

He's gonna be a stud! Was a first round talent IMO, ahead of Mayer and Kincaid.

He certainly has the physical tools.  And from a football family.   Lafleur said hes the fastest big guy hes ever seen.  Hopefully his hands don't fail him.  He has been a little droppy this far in the process.  Not a total concern but a little.

Eagles:

A little over hyped IMO but damn good nonetheless. They should win the NFC with ease.

Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith are unguardable according to reports, that defense will definitely be in the top five for sacks.

DeAndre Swift is having an incredible camp, they are lining him up everywhere. He's getting a ton of bubble screens, direct snaps, etc.

Rashad Penny not so much. He's having a bad camp of late. Surprisingly they LOVE Trey Sermon, he's getting a lot of first team reps and praise from the GM/coaches.

Don't be surprised if Rashad Penny doesn't make the team. You heard it here first.

The Steelers TE Washington is a freak as well.

Jordan Love looked solid.  1 bad throw really.  Musgrave wide open and he rifled it ahead of him over the middle.  Other than that he looked the part.  Preseason I know but so far so good.

He's apparently a much better route runner and pass catcher than most expected. And already being a great blocker means he'll be seeing the field early. I like it

All reports say the Jets Oline looks like trash.  If so that will be a season of disappointment.  Rodgers can't move like he used to and enjoyed a good line in GB.

Why they spent like 8 or 9 mill on Dalvin Cook is a mystery.   Should worry more about their line.

Everything I feel about the Bills says they should be right there again. I feel they're a better team than they were last year, better roster. And everything it seems went against them last year (injuries, weather, the Hamlin situation, etc.) and they still went 13-3. I think they finally just hit the wall mentally and emotionally in the postseason. Incredible that a lot of experts are not only picking against them to win the division, but some are saying they might not make the playoffs altogether.

The AFC is a gauntlet but I still expect them to be right there at the end. I truly believe that Allen's injury had an impact on his play and I'm pumped to see how he bounces back this year.

I'm not totally sure. The Bills didn't do too much to get significantly better yet the rest of the division did. I think the AFC East is going to beat up on each other, almost solidifying an AFC road Championship game for any of them.

The Bills are definitely the best team in that Division but it's no longer a gimmie IMO.

I agree.  I would say their roster is better than last year.  And it is nice to fly under the radar.  Only thing is their schedule is pretty tough.   I could see them winning less games than a year ago yet a better football team.

On paper they should be right there again.  NFL much of the time comes down to health.

The Chargers story is the same every year.  They draft extremely well, they are always loaded, but suffer 19385737338 injuries and thus go nowhere.  If they could ever stay healthy, theyd destroy everyone and prolly win a ring.

The pass rush is always underwhelming tho.  Bosa always hurt.  Theres usually 1-2 games where Bosa could win a game by himself by turning it up to 110%, overpowering his block and crushing the play behind the line. Some great pass rushers do that. But Bosa never does. Ive seen him in that situation and he disappears. Khalil Mack was also a bit disappointing last year. Theyve juiced the offense this camp so we will see how that goes.

I was looking down the stats.  The great Justin Hebert had 25 pass tds in 17 games.  Surprisingly low.

He had broken ribs all season long and they fired the offensive coordinator for being too conservative.

NYG Team Report:

Only made it to one session this year.  Some thoughts after watching practices and first game.

Offense: Should be better this year, we have much more WR depth than last year.  Waller is unguardable and is DJ's favorite target.  The line is better, with Neal playing much better and our new C is the real deal.

Defense:  Our 2 rookie CBs are legit, rest of the D depth has been increased as well. Thibs was challenged by Wink to step up, hopefully he will.

“He’s a good kid, very calm, composed,” Judon said, per Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com. “I think he’s going to be a great leader for this organization, a good player. We all can see the arm talent. He’s got some nice arm talent.”

More praise for Jordan Love from opponents.

Totally over the pre-season.  The NFL ended two games mid-game this week due to injuries.  That isn't real football anymore.  Proves the point we can do without it and its not worth the risk to players.

Boom, more D line depth.  Giants have refurbished their line to stop the run and compete for the division.

Christian Kirksey to the Bills.   Not sire what his deal is.  Was good with thr Browns a handful of years ago.  Been bouncing around.  Puts up stats still.  Solid pickup at a spot of need.

Is it possible that Gutterboy is really a  Giants scout?
