***OFFICIAL Lions @ Chiefs NFL Season Opener Thread***

Mahomes is surrounded by turds on offense. Chiefs could send their entire WR and RB corp, along with their overwhelmed crappy-ass even when cheating  OT, into the stands to hawk food and beverages. Replace them with Snow White and her seven diverse and equitable miner friends on league minimum contracts, then use the money saved to pay Chris Jones. Mahomes could still pass for 226 yards.

The cupboards are focking bare. Seriously, every practice squad in the league is full of players of at least this caliber, if not better.

The Chiefs OL provided very good pass protection.  They do need another reliable weapon on offense.  Many pundits were saying on this proves the Chielfs must sign Chris Jones immediately back.   I think he shows just the opposite, they need to spread that money around a bit.  Mahomes has to be kind of pissed after giving the Chiefs a sig ificant discount, that Jones wants to consume most that discount.

It's one week, and it'll be interesting to see how they respond.  I obviously had higher expectations that likely aren't going to be met.   But Kelce should be back against the jags which should create more opportunities for the receivers to play better.   We shall see. I still think Rashee Rice will turn into a reliable NFL receiver, he's just not going to do it from day 1.

Kelce opens things up and the Chiefs need him desperately. Jones surprisingly was less missed. On passing plays, the Lions O-Line kept the pocket clean most all the time, I think only one time Jackson got beat for a sack. here weren't very many pressures and Jones would have helped there plus a sack or two, but still, pressure or no, the rest of the defense was stout enough to make up the difference. And not just passing, the running D passed the eye test as well.

It was Kelce's absence that was more costly. And you're right, Rice was the most productive WR of the bunch. Marvin Jones looked bad for the Lions out there at WR2, but Josh Reynolds was servicable. Hopefully they can hold the fort until Jaemo returns and then Jaemo actually produces rather than stink up the joint.

They're fine on defense, even without Jones.   Also getting this dude soon.

Mahomes just can't do it all on offense, and you get paid to catch the ball. I'm sure it'll be a fun week of practice for these receivers.   You might see Justin Watson more too.

That makes better sense actually. the D had enough talent to compensate for that greedy MFer Since their QB's only offensive weapon is 33/34 years old whose durability may be finally catching up to him, they're far better served ponying up for another Tyreek or JuJu.

Jones will come back in week eight, he'll be there for the playoffs, then let him walk.

There has been one team that repeated since 2003-2004. I don’t know what KC was thinking not bolstering their WR corps. Relying on the unreliable Toney was a big mistake, especially when Kelce is into his 30’s.  It’s a young man’s game, except QB.  Sky Moore appears to be a gadget guy, and the rest are pedestrian at best.

Just a one year deal, basically getting more money this year then a FA next year.   Likely last with the Chiefs.

Great. I especially look forward to seeing both him and Kelce suit up for the Bears, Vikings, Packers, and Eagles games. 👏
