I find the argument that the Iranians did this as a face saving measure interesting.  The argument seems to be they wanted to show they can act forcefully while the argument also goes that they intended no actual damage.Tthis was all for show.  Well they did demonstrate they can launch vehicles.  And it is true there was little damage this time.  My question though is how does it save face to show the world and your closest allies that you are totally ineffectual?  How does it save face and make you appear strong to demonstrate that your weapons cannot reach their target?

There seems to be a collateral argument that we Americans have shown our strenght by not responding.  Well we have shown that strength well over 100 times since this present hot conflict started and all that has done has lead to more attacks.

Let’s take your second point first. Actually this move was in response to an Israeli attack. So I’m not sure why we should be responding. Biden has used pretty smart diplomacy in this matter IMO. 

As to your first point: Iran is saving face with its own public. They cannot allow the “Zionist Entity” to get away with killing some of their leadership. So they have to strike back. While this did no damage and was completely ineffectual, it has dominated world news for 24 hours. That’s enough for the mullahs for now. 
 

It strikes me that some of you guys are arguing this, despite the fact that this has all worked out well so far, because you don’t want to acknowledge that Biden has done a good job here. It contradicts your narrative of him as an ineffectual weak leader whom the world doesn’t respect. But fortunately for you and me both, your narrative is wrong.
