Confederate Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery to be removed

Recommended Posts

Great. Let's delete history.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/confederate-memorial-at-arlington-national-cemetery-removed-despite-gop-opposition

Despite efforts from a group of Republican lawmakers, a Confederate statue in the Arlington National Cemetery will be removed in the coming days.

The Reconciliation Monument, known as the Confederate Statue, is part of the push to remove military installations named after the Confederacy in the wake of the summer 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.

According to a press release from the national cemetery, the statue will be removed from the cemetery by Dec. 22.

The move to remove the statue is in compliance with the Congressional mandate to remove all Confederate memorials by Jan. 1, 2024.

We can replace it with a monument of George Floyd dressed in drag waving a Hamas flag.

Don't give the Libtards any ideas, they'd actually do that. 🌈

Great! Let’s not celebrate people who wanted to keep slaves and split the Union.

“…every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed…And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute… nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

Take it up with the Africans who captured and sold their own people to the world.

Just a litte advice peanut, if people forget history, they tend to repeat it.

Why do you want to keep statues of Democrats?

Liberals don't want to remember who actually rounded up and sold the slaves to the world, and who in the US wanted to keep them enslaved.

To remember what not to be. A lesson preserved in time. You must have missed that class.

A lot of history has been erased and forgotten, mostly anyone that wasn’t white male.

This is about a confederate statue being removed. I feel it no longer needs to be a symbol to be honored. Not sir what your point is…..

You are an example of lessons lost. You are the product of same mistake, and commit the same mistakes of others who don't want to learn and preserve history.

Should we erect statues of Hitler?  Pol Pot? Satan? School shooters?

So, tear down American soldier's monuments? Do you think the people who died in the Civil War owned slaves? I know the left has reframed the war to be all about slavery but for the vast majority of the people at that time it was about state rights. That history has been forgotten. The history of all the WHITE men who died to free an ungrateful race that has been nothing but a burden to our society sense.

I often wish Abe Lincoln didn't die and could implement his plan for blacks after the war.

Mostly people that never developed a system of writing. A lot of effort goes has gone into deciphering and preserving lost texts from civilizations around the world, much of the work being conducted by white males. Even human populations and cultures that leave no written records have artifacts such as jewelry or tools or pottery, along with bones, theirs or what they hunted, so efforts to make educated guesses of what their lives were like are able to be  made.

The confederacy wasn't evil you focking moron. I know you idiots try and frame things in simplistic good vs evil because that's all your pea brain can handle.

Confederate soldiers are American soldiers. We are one. It's about the unification and healing of the scare from that white brother war.

To a certain extent I agree with this: the Confederates were not evil and they were American. Sadly, they mostly fought to preserve an evil cause, slavery, which few of them derived any benefit from. But they were incredibly brave and mostly honorable people, and they do deserve to be remembered and honored and I think taking down their memorials is short-sided and in general a bad decision.

As far as your racist “white brother war” comment, there were plenty of black and brown and Native American soldiers on both sides of the conflict. There were, incidentally, also Jewish soldiers on both sides who gave their lives for their fellow Americans. You dishonor these people with your bigotry and ignorance.

Oh it's racist to point out 99% of the people who fought and died where white. GTFO!

It's Jew tricks like that which attempt to diminish the role white men took to end slavery. It wasn't Asians or Indians it certainly wasn't black, jews or muslim where slavery carries on to this very day in Africa and the middle east.

No it was the white man who ended slavery.

Great article about this:

Oh, and @peenie, as noted in the article this memorial was built in 1914 as a monument to reconciliation, as a symbol of a reunited country.

Yes, well, it served it’s purpose. It’s time to redecorate. They don’t have statues of Nazis in Germany no matter how heroic they were.

Your posts don’t sadden me as much as the fact that I’m the only one around here who regularly condemns them. Apparently because you’re right wing (at least on some issues) that gives your hatred and bigotry immunity from most of this forum’s posters. Sad and shameful.

More Jew tricks. You constantly try and turn people against me. You cry out in pain as you strike at me.

Once again you call it racist to point out what white people have done to end slavery and the sacrifice we made to end it. Not Jews not anyone else. White men.

First of all, I live in Georgia where the Civil War is all around. My favorite parks are where re-enactments occur, where you can learn about the history and marvel at how the war was fought, appreciate and feel a heavy burden for both sides. It does bother me a bit to go to Stone Mountain and see the relief on the side of the mountain because it’s like a symbol of a time when my people were enslaved and a symbol of white power and supremacy. BUT I appreciate the art and wouldn’t want the art removed.
I love the Civil War documentary and my mom owns the book. How can you not be moved?
