Schumer was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. The best play was to provide no votes for it and let a GOP inner-party dispute kill the bill themselves, so he could blame them. When the GOP came together and passed it anyways, he had two bad options.

Democrats are having a bitter argument over Schumer’s decision, threatening to primary each other, they seem weak and in disarray. 
 

In the end none of this matters. Trump was always going to get his way; he has the majorities and the Dems could have held him up (looking petulant all the while) but not stopped him. It doesn’t matter because in two years there will be an election which will be a national referendum on everything Trump’s doing. The Democrats, for all their faults and missteps, will represent the no vote to those who disapprove. So they’re going to do extremely well. After that it’s a question of producing a candidate to oppose JD Vance. That shouldn’t be difficult.

Their disagreement is that they see this as a political win for Trump, nothing more.  They mouth off, pretend that the CR which THEY FOCKING CREATED and agreed to, is suddenly dangerous.....please....  at least some of the Democrats care enough to not prioritize politics over people

Um no. There are severe cuts to spending. in the bill that Democrats profoundly disagree with. So, I predict, will the American people when they start to notice the effects.

No. there are some cuts and some improvement....notably improvements to WIC.....but your ideological masters were hard selling you the notion that this thing was destructive, which of course it is not....  and take note they dropped that narrative when it became clear it was going to pass, and then told us the real problem as they saw it, they just needed to fight Trump.

But I think, based on what I have read, that the public is going to see significant differences in real time that affects them directly and they won’t like it. And if they happens all of your assurances, and Trump’s won’t matter.

If this CR were actually anything at all to worry about we would have been hearing about it late last year, and all January and February.....the reason we heard about it recently.....was that the Dems wanted something to show they could stand up to Republicans, well toTrump.....but even then they knew they had been out maneuvered.

So the party that has shouted to the sky for years of the evil that is shutting down the government, suddenly flirted with it.....because they thought it could be a political win, but then realized that they would likely shrink their already low popularity.  So they stopped pretending the CR they helped create was a problem....and moved on.

But do not forget the ease with which they were preparing to do THE THING.....they have always said.....was an absolute evil.......just to gain some political cred.....these are the people you champion here on this forearm
