A two-year deal for Evans screams "win now".  I think this makes it less likely that the Bucs make a move for any of the top rookie QBs and makes it more likely that they hammer out a deal with Mayfield (or perhaps make a play for Cousins - which would be a huge mistake IMO).

Also one of the worst trades in history - maybe not as bad as the Hershel Walker trade (but maybe so, considering the contract that Russ got on top of the trade compensation).

Can’t lose Pittman, he could Anthony’s best friend.

Russell Wilson is available...

It still won't be worse than Daniel Jones or DeShaun Watson.

He’s not going there to rebuild the city, he’s going to play Qb for the Steelers.  Those blue collar people will be happy to have an upgrade.

Thanks.

Yeah, he can't do that either.

He blows!

A true upgrade, with Wilson they would have made the playoffs, if the Steelers can return the other pieces Wilson will be a very good double digit round Qb.

The Steelers made the playoffs last season, remember, vs the Bills??

No I don’t follow the game after ff.  With the pieces they already have, they can make the playoffs with Wilson this next season , if they do indeed sign him, he’s going to make for a very good double digit round target in ff.

Wilson doesn't make anyone better, maybe 5 years ago but he's shot.

They'd be better off trading for Fields or keeping Pickett if that's their plan

My interest in the Steelers picking up Wilson , has more to do with ff.  But Wilson is better than what they currently had.

Perhaps, but aren't they just burning time if they go with Wilson? They're not winning the AFC anytime soon so go with a young QB and take your lumps now instead of kicking the can down the road.

I think Pickett was that young Qb, he’s not going to make it, I guess they must feel differently.

But I read that Wilson is also talking with the Gmen, I’m not sure how much truth there in that report, but that’s even more interesting cause of the money they are paying Jones.

Steelers have better talent than the Broncos.  I think he’s going to be a good fit for them, plus a very good double digit round target.

I managed to not watch any broncos games last year, but I don't know why many teams would want a guy two different teams paid to go away.

Actually. I think the Seahawks got paid handsomely to let him go.  But now since the Broncos are on the hook for his 2024 salary, if he wants to play, he should be agreeable to a league minimum salary (which I believe would offset what the Broncos need to pay, so no team has any incentive to go any higher as there is no way any team would offer more than the Broncos are already paying him).

The Seahawks took $26M in dead cap to trade Russ.  The broncos are giving him $85M to go away.

When teams are paying a guy to go away, I don't think getting him for free is a bargain.

Agreed.  He’s going to be a good pick up for the Steelers if they do pick him up.  Plus a very good double digit round target.

That would be kind of crazy if Steelers got Russell Wilson, QB, and Jerry Juedy, WR. Allen Robinson, WR, got released, I think from Steelers.

A cap hit isn't really paying a player to go away.  That money is already spent and gone from the team's perspective, but cap shenanigans allow teams to spread the cap hit over the life of the contract - the hit gets accelerated if the player leaves before the contract is up.  Plus the Seahawks got a haul of draft picks and players in trading Russ away - I can't see how that can be considered as paying Russ to leave.

The Broncos on the other hand, are paying Russ about $39M for the 2024 season to not play football - that is paying him to go away.  The amount that the Broncos have to pay can be reduced by the amount any other team is willing to pay him to play football in 2024.  The rest of that $85M you quote is the cap hit for money already spent and gone.

I guess the premise that teams should be skeptical of a player that two other teams have decided that they don't want as their QB is valid, especially when one of those teams was willing to pay him, release him, and get nothing in return.  However, it is simply not accurate to say two teams paid him to go away.  In a league where 20-35% of teams do not have a settled franchise QB, Russ is a low cost/low risk option to consider for 2024.

Interesting how I predicted a Juedy trade. But it was to another AFC North team, the Browns haha

You can’t get an average starter off his rookie contract for 15 million. Not realistic. My prediction Bucs sign Baker close to the 30 million he wants, maybe more like 28…

As expected...

New home for Tony Pollard. Will share duties with Tyjae Spears. I wouldn't expect the same workload for Pollard in Tennessee...

That's probably a good spot for him. His best role is the change of pace RB along with an RB like Spears. He's not a high volume RB.

This likely means that Calvin Ridley won't be back with the Jags...

I don’t hate this move.  Ridley flashed at times, and disappeared at times so Davis can certainly replace that production.  Now the Jags need to go get a true #1 WR.
