Outside of the “you’re looking at the wrong people” comment, I agree.   I think Musk is a hypocrite, but he does seem to want to improve the country.   I think Trump wants to improve the country as well (although I disagree with his thinking that it’s not already great), but while he’s not in it for the money, I do think there’s some ego stroking involved.

He made electric cars viable.  Before him the only electric cars had a range of about 25 miles.  They were worthless.  And he gave away all his patents so other manufacturers could make decent electric cars.

If you don't see the benefits to all of mankind the advancements in space technology SpaceX has brought I'm not gonna waste my time typing on my cellphone to explain it to you.  Ditto with his other companies.
