make an offer

Dreaded?  No way.  Just the opposite because I know my team is about to get better once I take advantage of a desperate owner.

Exactly.  I was going to say the only way it’s bad is if you’re the one saying it.  My favorite trading week of the season is week 3, when guys start freaking out that their championship roster that they drafted a few weeks earlier, is now 0-2.

Your team stinks, is the worst.

Yeah, usually a sign that the other team has been pestering you for a player and you keep rejecting them. Just tell them you’re not interested in trading right now.

Not “dreaded” just cumbersome.

Not always.  I'm in a keeper league, and when trying to get my keepers squared away, I've had owners say that to me.  For example, I tried to get Aiyuk from one guy where I asked, "hey, what do you want for Aiyuk?"  His response was, "give me an offer".  🙄

The problem is, I have no idea who he wants in return?  Does he want a RB, a draft pick, a different WR, etc.  I have no idea how to frame an offer because I don't know what players I have that he's interested in.  When I hear that question, I usually go to someone else about a different player.

sometimes they are, sometimes they are not.

Sometimes when someone says this they are not sure what they want for the guy and they dont want to ask too little and rip themselves off.    so if you offer something they want, they may consider it.   so there is opportunity.   but sometimes when they say send an offer they have no plan to trade the guy, they just wanna know what they could get for him.

that can be frustrating.

but thats the nature of making a deal sometimes.

I dont like getting messages to make an offer because most of the time it is coming from an owner who has been pestering me to part with a specific player or two and low balling me. When they say "make an offer", you can be sure they wont accept that offer. Rather, they will pick 1 player you included and reconstruct another low ball offer that includes that one player you "showed interest in".  they will then point to the fact that "hey, you were asking for Player A! Just trying to give us what we both want" when in reality you have no urgent desire to trade at all but you came up with a fair offer for the hell of it.

depends on the league.   but yeah, I'd say 80% of the time this is the way it shakes out.       but sometimes the guy says make an offer because they dont really know what they want from you and they are hoping you'll offer something they like.

No, not nearly as dreaded as...

"Hamstring pull, week to week..."

Chubb, game 2 last season, lost for the season,  that’s the worst.
