California had the most active shooter incidents among US states in 2023, says FBI

Recommended Posts

Shocking I tell you.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/fbi-report-reveals-most-active-shooter-situations-have-common

A new report by the FBI documenting where "active shooter incidents" happened in the U.S. in 2023 reveals that open spaces – which include roads, neighborhoods, parks and outdoor venues – are the places where victims are most likely to be targeted.

Federal investigators say there were 48 active shooter incidents in total last year across 26 states, resulting in 105 deaths and 139 injuries.

California – which has some of the toughest gun control laws in the country – led the way with eight incidents, followed by Texas and Washington state, each with four.

The FBI says it defines an active shooter as "one or more individuals actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area."

First off were the most populated state so it’s likely we’re going to have the “most” of anything,

Second, from what my gun owning friends tell me if I wanted to possess a firearm I am not allowed to have legally all I gotta do is drive to Nevada and get one. Which is why for any gun restriction to be truly effective it has to be federal.

Doesn't seem like they are preventing them. 🤡

Never said they were. Guns used in active shootings in CA could be purchased illegally in state, purchased out of state, bought legally in CA and used in a mass shooting etc.

Nit sure what the point of the article is. Let’s have no gun laws? I ask that for Geeks who don’t have extra chromosomes so no need to respond Peefoam.

Then explain why Washington is #3 when it's not even in the top 10 most populated states. It falls behind Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, New Jersey & Virginia.

Nevada is not even in the top 10 easiest states to get a gun. Even private gun sales require a background check & the sale has to be processed through a licensed gun dealer.

Your excuses are null & void.

We also increased the tax on those items, so now you're paying up to 25% between state and federal taxes when you purchase items in CA; guns, ammo, etc. So, if people want to own firearms (which is their right), and they don't want to be taxed to the focking grave, yeah, they are going to drive to the nearest state and get them.

CA is kind of shooting themselves in the foot (pun intended) by trying to prevent additional sales by increasing tax. We're sick of being taxed here for everything.

CA is going to go full Commie within 50 years.  You better get out before it gets any worse.

How often do we see a post in this forum about gun violence in Chicago?

Yet, Illinois didn't even make it into the Top 10 states on the FBI's list. 😁

CA has some of the most stringent gun laws in the US. CA has lots of active shooters. Gun laws don’t matter.

The US has some of the laxest gun laws in the Western world. The US also has among the highest gun violence rates.

Wild coincidence! 🤡

The whole thing is a fairly small sample size, with 48 for the whole country (down vs 2022) so probably hard to draw any state-specific conclusions.

Oh and for @Maximum Overkill, according to the report only one was committed by a tranny (Nashville).

Both of your assumptions......which you post as facts were disproven by factual numbers. Relying on a "buddies" knowledge rarely works out well.

At the risk of sounding incredibly crass, I have to wait until some family members are no longer around. There's no way I can move until then.

You can’t go to another state, buy a gun and go back to your state with it. The FFL will not sell it to you. They can ship it to an FFL in your home state which will require you to abide by the laws in your state unless it’s a gun that has been banned in your state. Glocks are banned in my state. I can’t drive to North Carolina, buy a new Glock and have them transfer it to an FFL in my state. They won’t sell it to me. Its a federal requirement from the gun control act of 1968. This sh!tlib has been saying this crap for years because he has his head firmly up his a$$.
