Best of the bad QBs (super flex or 2 QB)

Recommended Posts

Hopefully this is your QB3 but maybe QB2 if you lose out on Stafford, Goff etc

Geno Smith, QB23 - one good year (2022) in a career of sucking. Good weapons this year but that was true last year too. Any hope he rises again or was he a flash in the pan?

Will Levis, QB24 - my god he was bad last year. But Tennessee is gonna give him a shot again and he can’t be worse, right? Got some new receivers although they are all over 30. Less emphasis on the ground game, presumably, with Derek Henry gone. Callahan could be great for him at HC. Gotta hope there’s some upside here

Derek Carr, QB25 - we know who he is. Low ceiling. He is on a new team but doesn’t seem like there’s much reason to expect better production.

Bryce Young, QB26 - trying to talk myself into him. He’s got the draft pedigree, he can’t be that horrible, right? And Carolina should be a little better this year, no? Got some new weapons in the draft (Brooks, Legette) and signed Diontae Johnson. Canales turned Baker around. I like the chances he doesn’t totally suck this year.

Daniel Jones, QB27 - there was that one year where he didn’t stink. And they got Malik Nabors. Plus he can run. Any hope here?

Anybody sure that Wilson, McCarthy, Fields, Nix, Maye, Minshew and/or Darnold are going to a) win the starting job on their team and b) not suck horribly?

Who you got?

Minshew

Never had the entire off-season to prepare as full time starter...  perennial back-up for 5 years. Yet a career passer rating of 90.2. Had some good games last year. From what I hear, the rookie Te Brock Bowers is about to idiot-proof whoever is the Raiders qb is. Adams is still there. If Minshew starts as I suspect he will, I bet he surprises.

Every thing that I’ve read about the Raiders Qb situation, is that O Connel is the guy.

I don’t draft my qbs until the double digit rounds, so any of those qbs could be my week one starter.

Yeah my impression is Minshew is an insurance policy for if and when O’Connell sucks. I suppose that could happen in training camp or pre season but probably we’re talking about in-season

I'm really interested in seeing what Levis can do, especially as a QB2 in a Superfex format. We kinda already know what these other QBs are, especially the Carrs and Minshews of the World. There's some nice potential upside with Levis.

* Fields can be a fantasy lottery ticket just in time for your playoff run. I'd advise rostering him if you have a spot rotting on your bench. I think he'll win that job at some point this season. And when he does it's going to be Fantasy Gold.

Carr was on a new team last year. Really depends on if you think a second season of familiarity with his weapons will help. I think a full season of Juwan Johnson will help but he’s already dealing with an injury. Even so, I like Carr as a solid QB3

Love getting Minshew as depth in a super flex.

Levis would be interesting with Henry gone and Ridley in town.

If you just want a steady, fairly consistent guy with limited upside, then it's probably Carr.

If you want a bit more upside, Geno Smith, he did have one pretty big season not so long ago. Maybe he can do it again, maybe...

Will Levis, I think it's a long shot, but there is a chance he takes off this season and is a stud QB, like I said, a long shot, but more than any of these other guys

Bryce Young, he may be serviceable this season, but I just don't see him being much more than that in Carolina at the current time

Sign me up....new OC Grubb is former U Dub OC.  Think of those Husky 3 WR sets with Penix spreading it out.

Meh.  Best ball leagues at that price sure.  Again, new qb friendly HC in town for Levis.....Levis is no Burrow though.

Derek Carr, QB25 - we know who he is. Low ceiling. He is on a new team but doesn’t seem like there’s much reason to expect better production.

"we know who he is".  YES.

Bryce Young, QB26 - trying to talk myself into him. He’s got the draft pedigree, he can’t be that horrible, right? And Carolina should be a little better this year, no? QB26 who could return QB18 value.

Daniel Jones, QB27 - there was that one year where he didn’t stink. And they got Malik Nabors. Plus he can run. Any hope here?

"hope' ??  Only if he runs....

a) Nix automatic

b) WW fill in for late season bye week QBs in 2QB leagues

Darnold gonna win his spot, Maye will likely be thrown to the fire.....

Who you got?

if Carr is your QB 25 and you are getting him as your QB3, you jump on that.

guy in our league(first place) lost his top QB for the season the week before the trade deadline and paid a kings ransom to get Derek Carr.   while he wasnt lighting it on fire, he was good enough to get him to the final.

Bryce Young could be a nice pickup too.   wouldnt be surprised to see him take a big step forward.   ditto for Levis who has a low floor and high ceiling.

He's a great buy low candidate in Dynasty. I'm working on a deal as we speak.

Should’ve specified — rankings are based on supposed adp rank at the position

Just read a report that O Connel And Minshew are tied , both of them have looked awful.

I don’t know who I will truly target at Qb, but I would like to see a k Murray fall into the tenth rd.  Darnold could be another good streamer.

always a lot of teams out there giving reports about which QB is ahead or if they are tied .

it's all beat writer and talking head speculation at this point.

One report I read a about ten days ago confirms what you’re saying, it had O Connel looking like the starter.

I think that ship has sailed. Maybe a few months ago but he's rising fast. He's going to have a really nice fantasy season.

I agree, Harrison moved the line.

yeah i figured.   but that means you have a legit chance of having Carr as your QB3.   in a 2 QB or superflex league, that's huge.   That kind of depth at QB in that format is a huge advantage because there will always be demand for startable QB's and I consider Carr to be startable in that format

yeah and the beat writer gets to see the open part of the practice, but not the closed part.     that also hinders the reliability.     when the team officially releases a depth chart you will know for sure.

In that format you need to draft 2 QBs in the first few rounds or be stuck with nothing, especially in a 12 team Superfex. I'm in a couple Superfex Dynasty leagues where some guys literally have no QBs. They have no shot other than a full rebuild.

I agree, having Carr as your QB3 in that format is huge. QBs are currency, especially in Dynasty Superfex/2 QB leagues.

for sure.   lots of teams will go QB-QB in that format.    or at worst will draft 2 QB in the first 3 rounds

I think that’s too early.  That’s why I wait until week 3 of the season to pick up my first QB.  But if I was going to reach for one of those QBs it would be Levis.

I like Levis and Carr (to a lesser extent).  As far as rookies, I like McCarthy because of the weapons and Nix because of Sean Payton.
