I watched this yesterday.  I'm sorry, but this dood hadn't competed since the last Olympics, and breezed his way to the gold.  It's hard to take this sport serious IMO.

Spent today watching the first day of taekwondo (smallest weight classes).  It's a slight variation of what I used to compete in; (perhaps) obviously I wasn't as good as these folks, but I knew (younger, more flexible) people who were.

Watching the smallest weight classes of weightlifting now.  We do these lifts at my HIIT/crossfit gym, and the weights are just crazy.

These are the kinds of events I love at the Olympics.

[Also, watched the DBacks sweep the Guardians today in a doubleheader and for the series.]

Why are you sorry he won?

I'm not "sorry" he won.  I'm sorry that it's hard to take a sport seriously where somebody could not compete for four years and seemingly easily win the gold.

Such is wrestling. Leverage is innate after a certain age.

If by “sport” you mean Greco-Roman, I can’t really disagree.  There were a few decent matches, but way too many that ended 1-1 or with very little action.

Freestyle is way better though, plus the US is also way better at it.  Amit and Sarah were super impressive.  And tomorrow the men’s starts off with a bang with many Americans in action (several representing other countries):

Brooks (4x NCAA champ from Penn State that beat the returning Olympic Champ in the US trials, Brooks is also the guy who said Muhammed was a false prophet)

Cruz (NCAA champ from Lehigh, representing Puerto Rico)

Maroulis (gold medalist in Rio and bronze in Tokyo)

Lee (3x NCAA champ from Iowa who’s mom broke her glasses, he is probably the most fun to watch)

Roman Bravo Young (2x NCAA champ from Penn State representing Mexico)

That list also doesn’t include Myles Martin (bronze medalist from Tokyo representing San Marino)

Yes, I mean Greco-Roman.  Freestyle is much more clearly a sport.

This was also kinda crazy because the woman that was supposed to be her opponent didn’t make weight (even after reportedly cutting her hair and drawing blood), and apparently the rule was that she didn’t get a medal at all because of that which doesn’t really seem fair.  Apparently Sarah thought she was going to win by forfeit but they ended up bumping up the woman that lost in the semis

Spencer Lee is a stud.

Been through a ton of injuries, I’m probably rooting for him the most out of anyone

It's encouraged in wrestling.

Spencer Lee to the finals!  Unfortunately Aaron Brooks lost with seconds to go and Helen Maroulis suffered a defeat as well.   Interestingly Spencer’s mom is French and he has a grandmother that lives there who this will be the first time able to see him wrestle.  GC posters might more appreciate the can size of his sister though:

And speaking of women and wrestling, a cool stat:

Yeah, I just put it on before I saw this.  Good job avoiding spoilers.

I don't understand why Curry is getting so many minutes.  He isn't making shots, and he plays zero defense.

Reverse jinx successful!

Also, I've been watching most of the 2nd half and he hadn't made d1ck.  Must have scored a bunch in the first half.  :dunno:

What a game. People should watch this.

Typical NBA game for sure…. No need to watch this game as it happens very frequently during the season…

Going to have to disagree there. I think this is medal round now so this was an elimination game.

Don't waste your time arguing with posty about sports.  He basically only pays attention to stuff like women's field hockey.
