I have asked you at least twice in the past “Why do you believe what the Bible says?” and I asked it genuinely and without malice or snarkiness.  I really do want to know.  You didn’t answer before.  I can imagine what your answer is, but I’d prefer to see it from you.

Because of Faith.  I have faith that everything was created, things are just to perfect to just happen by chance.

And the Bible tells us that God is the creator, that Jesus is the Savior, and without being a witness, I’m a true believer by my Faith.

And why do you not believe?

Tell you what?  I asked you the question.

You have the answers, after it’s your life,  do tell? Please.

I don't use religion as an excuse.  Not sure you're trying to say anymore.

You say your beliefs are based on faith after reading the bible.  I respect that.  You found something you agree with and believe in.  With that being said, why do you think it is the only correct belief and everyone else in the world is wrong?

Sure would be nice if he got rid of cancer.  Not a big fan with God's creation of that one.

You can't have good without bad.  Even in science, that exists.  If there were no bad, then what's the point of anything?

Yes, I already know that.  My question is “Why?”  Are you willing to explain why?  You might be saying it’s a choice you’ve made.  Is that what you’re saying?  If so, that’s fine.  Just seeing if I understand.

There's enough bad in the world already.  If there really is a God then cancer is proof that he hates us and wants us all to suffer.

So you just want to pick and choose what "bad" we have?  Murder is fine... but not cancer?

Wow.  That was am impressive jump to conclusion.  Like, Olympic record long jump.

If I could choose one bad thing in this world to get rid of it would be cancer.  That doesn't mean I wouldn't want other bad things to stop happening, it's just my priority.

Nah, I can’t agree with this.  No disrespect.  It’s just that there are myriad ways for people to die and cancer is just one of them.  If cancer is proof God hates us, then so are all other causes of death.  And that doesn’t even touch on non-lethal suffering.  Of course, this might lead to a grander conversation regarding the human condition.  Life is suffering.  Death is certain.  Our purpose is enigmatic.  The human condition.

Why do they speak highly of Jesus, it’s in the Koran.

Jesus did a great thing for those that accept Him,  man could not live up to God’s law for man, Jesus died for our Sins,  Thank you Jesus.

Jesus hasnt done a great thing for me as far as i know.  Other than leave me a 2,000+ year old book and be like "Trust me bro".     Is he paying my mortgage or doing my laundry? Because if not. He is costing me 2 hours every Sunday of productivity.

The church i used to go to (when i went as a child/teen) did give out free donuts after mass.  So that was cool! Also no priests tried to touch me.  So maybe i was just a ugly child.

Would Jesus judge someone who didn't believe he had "super powers" or was the "son of god"?   From what I've been told, he wouldn't, he'd give me some fish and wine and wash my feet.  But if he is so all powerful, why doesn't he just come down right now and do an interview with Elon Musk on Twitter and clear all this up?

So yes, you want to pick and choose what "bad" we have.  YOU want to be God or Jesus.

Just because a certain bad thing exists, it's not definitive proof that God (or Jesus), doesn't exist or not exist.  It just is.  Apparently, you want the job.

Dude, I just don't want cancer in the world.  It doesn't go any deeper than that.

Death happens and it can be random.  Accidents, murders, rare diseases and so on.  I get it.  It would be great if none of it happened.

If it’s in Washington state courts, there ain’t no way they’re winning. The state Supreme Court is extremely wacko liberal and that’s even me saying that :o

Cardiovascular disease is twice as likely to kill someone than cancer.  If we're picking and choosing which to toss off the island, why not that one?  I'm going to guess it's because that one didn't affect you, but cancer did.

I think it's maybe because most cardiovascular disease is caused by poor life decisions (obesity) and most cancer is not the person's fault.

@Hawkeye21 absolutely ruling this thread with gentle logic. I agree almost completely with everything youve posted.

Why do so many people feel like only they are the arbiter of right and wrong, reality and fiction? Glad that some of us can admit we don't really know the "truth" and just live our best lives while respecting others' rights to do the same.

Exactly.  So many people get cancer that don't deserve it, especially children.

I think for some it just makes their lives easier if they believe in certain absolutes.  In reality there are very few absolutes.
