Strike 5,538 Posted September 11, 2024 The company I worked for at the time lost 358 people in the 9/11 attacks. While I didn't know any of them personally I will never forget that day or those colleagues.
WhiteWonder 2,734 Posted September 11, 2024 no you forget the attackers and try to forget the events of the day in specifics but you remember the lives lost and you honor them

jerryskids 6,790 Posted September 11, 2024 I visited the 9/11 memorial in NY this past spring for the first time. A friend of mine died there -- we were in grade school together. It's moving to read the name of someone you personally knew on a memorial like that. Today I was at the DBacks/Rangers game, and they sang God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch (great job by a Phx cop). During it my mind went back to the first World Series game after 9/11, and George W Bush throwing out the first pitch. Like him or not, that was probably the baddest-ass thing I've ever seen a president do. For those old enough to remember, the start of the WS was considered a big risk, as we didn't know if more bad things were planned. Bush hopped out of the dugout, shoulders back confidently, walked out to the rubber (not in front of the mound like a weakling), and threw a strike. I remember having a calming feeling at the time, thinking that everything would be OK. I know we do a lot of partisan bickering here, but may God bless America and the souls whose lives were lost that day.

W is such a putz…but that toss at that time in that setting and the bullhorn speech on the rubble were great moments for him and the country. Rest of your sentiments are also spot on. Thanks. Amen.
