Helene Disaster Response: The Regime leaving Red States to die?

The key phrase HT continues to ignore in what I said..(I mean he probably can't read it)

"If that is true-"

You gotta love how Mooney thinks he’s off the hook by saying “if true” after spreading obvious bullshit that he so desperately wants to be true. Like a kid crossing their fingers behind their back. Childish.

At least I'm being honest as opposed to you who slithers into a thread- says something idiotic- gets asked for evidence of it- and then runs and hides

Yup.  You didn’t even say the “truckload” thing.

It's what HT does. He knows he isn't playing with a winning hand so he has to try and add to it and cheat to make it sound worse. Just doesn't work because everything I said is clear and laid out.

Unlike Biden/Harris, here’s another Dem I’ll vote for.  My favorite politician out there right  now, running for NC Attorney General:

Slightly off topic but I see Libs of Tik Tok is now going after Mr Jackson, because he spoke at some LGBT chamber of commerce event where a pedophile got an award, even though he probably didn’t even know the guy (not to mention the video doesn’t even show him addressing the guy directly).

You can disagree with some of his policies but this guy has the most integrity of any politician I’ve ever seen.  The fact that I bet Trump will win NC but Jackson will win Attorney General shows that there are thankfully plenty of independent voters out there.  Here is his reasoned response to an attack ad against him (speaking of which, I’ve heard his opponent’s other ads on the radio, I didn’t realize it was possible to say “woke liberal policies” as many times as he does in 30 seconds, gotta be 4 or 5 times).

The national guard never reported this. There were no militias.

One guy made a threat and a game of telephone followed because liberals wanted this story to be true.

Sounds like at least two different guys now, according to this article.  First guy was arrested at a gas station, this seems to also describe a separate incident

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/hurricane-recovery-officials-in-n-c-relocated-amid-report-of-armed-militia-email-shows/ar-AA1scpOH

Earlier Saturday, a resident went to a supplies distribution center, which the Cajun Navy, a disaster response group, has been helping locals run. The resident threatened FEMA personnel who were also stationed there in a trailer, according to two Cajun Navy volunteers. Lake Lure police and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident

Hold on...did i read that right?

That first guy got arrested and this whole crazy rumor started because he made an offhanded comment to a gas station worker?

That gas station worker then told some national guard dudes, and off we went?

My god Cooper is so soft.

Can only imagine how mild those other threats must be if they havent come up with some weird rando charge yet to git him with.

"Fema you suck, I hope you choke on your fat cat group dinners I see you expensing"

Omg we've been threatened!!!!!!

He posted on Facebook looking for volunteers to “overtake the FEMA site”

On the plus side, after arriving and realizing he had been duped by fake news like @F1erce, he ended up staying to volunteer

A Federal Takeout of California is imminent when Trump takes office. They are  no longer able to function as a competent Government.

They are prioritizing WOKE policies over policies to protect its residents. They are promoting DEI Diversity hires. Their politicians have no idea what they're doing. They'd rather prioritize solar Street lights over water reservoirs and resources that could of saved Lost Angeles.

When will filthy Democrats wake up and realize that it's not working?? YOU GET WHAT YOU VOTE FOR. Even junkies setting wildfires.

That was a joke dude , obviously, in response to all the trash talking against California (which were also jokes not be taken seriously either.) If you’re dumb enough to have taken it seriously the fault is yours

FEMA has denied North Carolina’s request to continue matching 100% of the state’s spending on Hurricane Helene recovery.

In a letter to Gov. Josh Stein on Friday, acting FEMA administrator Cameron Hamilton wrote that the agency had determined the full cost share was “not warranted.”

“The need in western North Carolina remains immense — people need debris removed, homes rebuilt, and roads restored,” Stein said in a statement.

Worth a read.  Seems like they have been abandoned.

In and around Asheville, N.C., there are still visible signs of devastation that remain from the floods of Hurricane Helene six months ago: rusted debris in the yards of water-damaged residences in ruins.

But Helene, a federal disaster worker who coincidentally goes by the same name as the storm, also worries about this community's invisible problems that tend to persist, months later — like mold and financial and mental health aftereffects.

"That six-month mark is a really critical time," says Helene, who spoke to NPR on the condition of partial anonymity because she fears retaliation for talking to the media.

Until April 1, Helene worked at the National Center for Environmental Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her team parachutes in after storms, wildfires, factory explosions, or toxic spills to help state and local officials assess where to put emergency resources. Helene and her CDC colleagues lost their jobs in Elon Musk's DOGE-directed layoffs of about 10,000 staff at federal health agencies.

On April 1, Helene and about 55 other public health workers from the county and state government, as well as a local university, were set to go door to door, surveying 210 households about any enduring challenges facing residents of Asheville's Buncombe County.

They'd prepared detailed questionnaires about food insecurity, unsafe drinking water and toxic chemical exposure. The mission of Helene's CDC team was to collect and process that survey data and write up a report — all within 48 hours — so that local officials could solve residents' most pressing problems.

"The hardest phone calls"

Helene and other CDC colleagues were en route, or already on site in North Carolina, when they all received the "reduction-in-force" emails placing them on administrative leave. They had to abort the mission, and Helene had to deliver the news to their partners at the state and county level.

"It was really one of the hardest phone calls I've ever had to do in my career," says Helene.

The suspended Buncombe County survey is just one example of the many local and state efforts supported by federal health agencies caught up in the Trump administration's deep cuts to government staffing and spending.

So Arkansas leadership never planned for taking care of themselves? What are they doing with their tax dollars collected?

Arkansas also has a 6.50 percent state sales tax rate and an average combined state and local sales tax rate of 9.45 percent.

Gotta love the sheer hutzpah of firing hundreds of FEMA employees and cancelling millions in disaster preparedness months after biitching that the agency wasn’t doing enough.

Trump knows his ass boys will never figure it out.

For different reasons conservatives & liberals have the same POV on this: FEMA should support the people of Carolina.

I don’t know what this is, but it’s not conservatism.

FEMA is it's very own disaster

Just a complete waste of money and resources. States need to handle their own shlt. Nobody knows the problems of states better than the states themselves. We don't:t need the whole country sponging off the federal government. The only time they should be stepping in is for removing illegals, identifying and handling terrorist attacks, any other organized crime, etc.

Sponging? How much money in taxes and revenues do you think the people of North Carolina have put into the federal government over the decades? Trillions? The conservative argument is that money belongs to them & they’re entitled to it.
