Sean Mooney 1,983 Posted November 12, 2024 Do we think Republicans don't eat their own as well? We could ask Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Paul Ryan, John Bolton, Kevin McCarthy, Mike Pence, etc The simple fact of politics is- you are useful until you are not- then you are forgotten and brushed aside for the next sycophant to step in. It isn't a left or right issue- it's a politics issue. 2

It isn't a left or right issue- it's a politics issue. Those people extricated themselves from the Republican party, though some of them pretend to still be "in it". No sir, they established their opposition to the conservative ideals, some more than others and each in their own way. But now, today......liberals espousing simple truths they appear to have known all along.....and which they vilified people for saying when their access to power was on the line And then turning on each other to save their political situations.....I can think of fewer things that capture liberalism so succinctly
Sean Mooney 1,983 Posted November 12, 2024 "Extricated themselves"? Mike Pence and Kevin McCarthy are opposed to conservative ideals? Liz Cheney from the war hawkish Cheney family is opposed to conservative ideals?? Simple fact is they dared to question what Trump was doing and they got run out on rails. People wanted to kill Mike Pence....but it's on him? 2

People wanted to kill Mike Pence....but it's on him? Right. By all means, continue this fantasy that you are right, everyone else is wrong, and just stupid. Might feel good in the moment, some level of self assuage, but it will only ensure you grow no further and do not fix the things that delivered the resounding victories for the conservatives. This misplaced sense of self does not sway me at least, I will continue to honestly assess......and not pretend as you are inclined.

I will do so, absolutely, and others did as well....they stepped away to join the "never trump" segment of the party. I found all of that just fine, dissention is exactly what is needed, the ability of these people to have dissenting voices is imperative. They are true patriots in that regard. So while it could be true that Republicans might eventually eat their own, of late the actual real eating is being done by Democrats..... I probably should not, but I relish in watching these people turn on each other. Vile creatures all of them, showing their true nature.....

What positions do you anticipate Cheney, Kinzinger, Pence, Ryan, or the rest to fill in the new Trump admin? Chances any of them get support to win a seat back anywhere anytime soon
kilroy69 1,247 Posted November 12, 2024 I have enjoyed seeing them turn on each other and blame EVERYTHING except what was the root cause. I was reading an article yesterday about how the progressives in the democratic party want the DNC to be even MORE left leaning because they think THAT is going to win. They totally misunderstand what is going on.

I think the lessons learned from the last stint in office is that there is a distinction between dissention and mutiny. He really needs smart people with competing opinions around him, and I like his selection for chief of staff for this, but I want to wait and see the rest of the selections. Would I think that someone like Cheney or Kinzinger or the rest of your list would be helpful or useful. I think maybe not, you cannot put outright enemies in your bubble......but you still have to listen to what they have to say. Now, that being said....if he EVER.......starts talking about needing a black woman or some nonsense, as if skin color matters.....THAT will be a big focking problem. The Real timschochet 6,751 Posted November 12, 2024 There is no permanent winner in American politics. No matter how crazy (or sane) Democrats become they will be back in power in a couple of years, simply because they are the opposition to the party that is in power now. That is the main lesson I take from Trump’s massive victory.

I remember back in 2006 and 2008 when we had a blue wave in the Senate and the House and the Democrats predicted that the GOP would never hold power again. It was just as ridiculous then as it now to say the left will never have power again. Of course they will. These things swing back and forth.

Sean Mooney 1,983 Posted November 13, 2024 I guess this goes here- The "Uncommitted Movement" wrote a letter on Twitter saying that people aren't supporting Trump, they are recognizing that the Democrats were not helping fight against Israel. So in the final paragraph they say "This requires decisive action. Put an end to the flow of weapons that fuel this cycle of violence. If they do not, the Democratic Party risks straddling our coalition of voters with the ever-increasing weight of a legacy intertwined with endless war and suffering. Now is the time to listen, to reflect, and to forge a path that truly embodies the values we profess to represent-values that resonate deeply with every community feeling unheard and betrayed.” essentially making demands about what the outgoing Presidency should do. The replies to this are hilarious ranging from: "Wait...the argument is "we tanked your election so now you need to do exactly what we say to make it up to us?" Sure." "Congrats, you owned yourselves." and my personal favorite "Why don't you ask Jill Stein for help"
