Because of a bailout? Yeah that’s great long term policy.

Tardcore is so dumb he would rather pay a farmer out of his pocket than have the farmer sell his crop on the market.

Oh I’m in favor of a bailout. We should have forgiven the student loans and we need to do this. In fact there’s no choice. But that doesn’t change the fact that it was Trump’s insane trade policies that got us into this mess in the first place and which he continues to double down on.

Trump is meeting with Xi in a few weeks and he says soybeans will be first on the agenda. Xi has already made his position clear: when America lowers their tariffs, China will start buying soybeans again.

Likeliest result: Trump will TACO on the China tariffs, Xi will agree to buy soybeans again?l, Trump will proclaim a “brilliant trade deal” and you idiots will praise him as always.

We have a soybean farm in the family, so this has gotten personal. I hope we get back to a reasonable, common-sense government with bipartisan compromise without all the demonization, finger pointing and despicable hate behavior. We are better than this.

I wish you the best. Hopefully you will get a subsidy in the short term, we can lower the tariffs (or get rid of them) and have trade again. I’m not demonizing anyone but as far as finger pointing, sorry. This is on Trump and those that voted for him. It was a terrible idea and it’s only going to get worse.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I do recall Trump in the past blaming the president for a federal government shutdown.

Thanks for the kind words about the farm. We're used to getting huge checks by year's end, and this year we're getting nothing.

According to gutter we have to let China tape us in trade forever in lieu of dealing with any sort of economic drawbacks.

Dude is a clown.

At least with tariffs the ROI is there in updated more beneficial trade agreements.  With the Biden inflation increase act, we just bought votes.

How has it worked out?

This is how mind boggling stupid trump is.

China stopped buying our soybeans because of him.  He now gives $20B to Argentina.  Where is China buying soybeans from now?  Argentina!

Trump really does hate America.

Tariff costs to companies this year to hit $1.2 trillion, with consumers taking most of the hit, S&P says

>>
President Donald Trump’s tariffs will cost global businesses upward of $1.2 trillion in 2025, with most of the cost being passed onto consumers, according to a new analysis from S&P Global.

In a white paper released Thursday, the firm said its estimate of additional expenses for companies is probably conservative. The price tag comes from information provided by some 15,000 sell-side analysts across 9,000 companies who contribute to S&P and its proprietary research indexes.

“The sources of this trillion-dollar squeeze are broad. Tariffs and trade barriers act as taxes on supply chains and divert cash to governments; logistics delays and freight costs compound the effect,” author Daniel Sandberg said in the report. “Collectively, these forces represent a systemic transfer of wealth from corporate profits to workers, suppliers, governments, and infrastructure investors.”<<

Trump started a trade war with China, they stopped buying our soybeans they started buying soybeans from Argentina, then we give Argentina $40B while our farmers go bankrupt, and then we're going to import more beef from Argentina.

Did I get that right?  Art of the deal?

Am I really reading people still think student loan forgiveness is/was a good idea? JFC 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yes. It is a VERY good idea if it is tied to securing first time home mortgages, which was the proposal under Biden that Republicans rejected. It would have been similar to the GI Bill after World War II, and create a new class of homebuyers which would in turn create an economic boom. Yes it’s an excellent idea and we can still do it.

Not sure how it relates to the tariffs though.

Oh boy. Bail borrowers out of debt so they can go back into debt in a different area of life.

Talk about hating personal responsibility and America overall.

Trump has cut off all trade negotiations with Canada. He’s pissed off that Canada put out a commercial with Ronald Reagan’s voice criticizing tariffs. Trump called it fraudulent (it isn’t; Reagan was firmly pro-free trade his entire political life.)

What a baby we are dealing with here.
