Full disclosure - I used to read PJM, I know it well. I think the point about the arrival being a non-state event is a good one. Granted. But then O’Brien raised the standing ovation when Trump comes in for his speech, but then he himself admits it’s not out of admiration.

What I think is really interesting is the Board of Peace. Iirc the countries there were Belarus, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Paraguay… maybe 20 leaders of fairly mid to low level nations nearly all authoritarian. It’s not a treaty, it has no authority. O’Brien doesn’t tell his readers about all that, he paints a picture of world leaders treating Trump like a star.
