You live a posh life and have no idea how people are struggling. Ah yes now the Jew hater shows his ugly face. I hope you get a chance to go to Budapest one day and see the Holocaust memorial. It’s outside in a park that also features a statue of Ronald Reagan. For me it was terribly sad and moving since some of my immediate ancestors were killed very near there, for you it will be a repudiation of some of your crackpot beliefs and perhaps it will educate you (though I doubt it.) We visited the Italian Riviera as part of the Backroads hiking trip we took to Italy last year for our 30th. Stayed at Hotel Continental in Santa Margherita Ligure. The hotel has it's own beach/lagoon area which was really nice. Walked up the coast to Portofino (that was the hiking part, but it was mostly flat and paved along the water). Portofino is where the rich and richer play. Overall a nice, relaxing leg of the trip. If you go, I can figure out the restaurant we ate at in SML, it had a great outdoor eating area and was very good. I wish we had a little more time to explore there. We went in early October; the weather was perfect for our trip, but it's at the tail end of the season. We heard that the hiking tour the week before us got a ton of rain. If you are looking to spend quality beach time, you might want to go a little earlier in the season.

SaintsInDome2006 441 Posted March 6 FFT folks, thanks for the good discussions. I am heading to Amsterdam and Bruges at the end of the month. If anyone has any suggestions for hotels, breweries, restaurants or sites or museums (I'm already going to Anne Frank Museum) please let me know. I appreciate. I'm a big beer fan, the trip to Bruges is almost a pilgrimage for me. Thanks @jbychofor the reply in the other thread, I'm noting those places, I appreciate it and I'm checking them out soon. Cheers to all.

Just don't go after having a breakfast of edible snack cakes from Betty Boop's and topping that off with hash unless you want to see the paintings move as you stare at them. @SaintsInDome2006 the Heineken brewery is also excellent, even if you don't like Heineken. Wish I could remember more about Amsterdam; I was there 25 years ago and spent the majority of the time stoned off my ass. Skipped the Anne Frank house because the line was too long and I wanted to take a nap. 1

Walking around the main part of the city with all the canals is just cool. Grab dinner then walk around with no particular destination in mind. Anne Frank museum needs reservations I believe pretty far out in advance. Was def worth seeing.

There is a giant park near the Van Gogh museum (that museum is a really cool setup even if you aren’t into art) IIRC that was a good spot but the core of the city is really only for walking or biking so nice to cover lots of territory.
