So he’s not changing the deal.   Both sides agreed it could be reviewed, as part of the deal.

He put a 25% tariff on vehicles imported from Canada and Mexico.  It's 0% -> 10% for UK.  So we're prioritizing vehicles made in the UK over vehicles made in North America now.

Yeah. Range Rover and Ford are duking it out for the same customers.

So you're good with Range Rover customers paying less in taxes than Ford Maverick customers?

You have to give to get. It was a negotiation. We get anything? And like I said , Range Rover and Rolls Royce and the maverick customer aren’t the same.

What did we get from the UK?

Personally I think the hard working American buying the $25k pickup truck should be a higher priority than the guy buying the $80k douchemobile.

I argued yesterday that any deal that lowers tariffs was good for the USA and i stand  by that statement. But I assumed, based on the initial reporting, that this new deal with the UK did just that.

It doesn’t. Prior to “Liberation Day” we had tariffs of 3.4% on British goods. This new deal raised them to 10%. This “deal” is awful. What a frickin idiot. Thank heaven this is actually no deal at all, will never be ratified by Congress, and the next President can just toss it out. This guy is such a disaster.

Coming from the guy who knows nothing about anything except for fear mongering.

Your constant whining has made you look like yet another cultist liberal, TDS infected, dumbass. You have never been right about anything. ,And that is proven.

Now go have a good cry.

Whatever we got is not worth raising tariffs. I don’t understand why we are punishing our consumers. Do you?

Trump, in a major concession, says the tariff on China should be 80% — but will leave it up to Bessent

President Donald Trump on Friday set negotiating terms for his administration’s first discussions with China, which are set to take place in Geneva this weekend.

In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump appeared to lay out his demands — and concessions — for the meeting between US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and their Chinese counterparts. Trump said China must import more US goods, and in return, he believes the United States should lower its 145% tariff on most Chinese goods to 80%.

“CHINA SHOULD OPEN UP ITS MARKET TO USA — WOULD BE SO GOOD FOR THEM!!! CLOSED MARKETS DON’T WORK ANYMORE!!!,” Trump posted.

“80% Tariff on China seems right! Up to Scott B,” Trump said in a separate post.

Even if tariffs fall to 80%, it’s not clear that would be enough to convince US businesses to import Chinese goods. Economists have said 50% is the make-or-break threshold for the return of somewhat normal business between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the damage is already done. Price hikes are beginning, and Goldman Sachs analysts Thursday said a key measure of inflation would effectively double to 4% by year end because of the trade war. Even if tariffs went to 0% this weekend, the US would still have price hikes and shortages, at least temporarily, because so little has been coming into US ports.

China said Friday exports to the US fell 21% last month — before the effects of tariffs took hold.

Art of the Deal - Master Negotiator????? 🤣

Big whoopee fukking do that we have a concept of a plan for a deal with the United Kingdom.

Check this out:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_largest_trading_partners_of_the_United_States

Great Britain is our No. 8 trading partner, but notice that it's one of only five of our 20 biggest trading partners for which we export more to them than we import, so a deal with them won't be nearly as beneficial as it would be with other countries such as China and the European Union.

This chart really is something. I realized Mexico and Canada were our biggest national trading partners but the EU as a block beats everybody.

Yeah, it's amazing what's out there when an attempt is made to run down facts, but the FAGAs will dismiss the chart because it comes from wiki.

Wiki has gotten a lot more reliable in recent years and well-sources its information.

Meanwhile, Trump has floated backing down the China tariffs to 80 percent, like China is going to blink at that. More useless noise that gets him headlines.

People still don't understand how tariffs work? 🤣

Which, of course, is what Trump was banking on. Dumb, gullible, unwavering supporters. Parroting his talking points while middle class suffers. Meanwhile, he negotiates personal deals for himself.

Get a clue. Ya been hoodwinked.

DOGE is a joke.

Musk initially promised that he would eliminate $2 trillion of the $7 trillion federal budget, before scaling back his ambitions to $1 trillion, and then $150 billion. Even that revised target is highly improbable.

Importantly.  As the economy evolves, liberals will be relegated to every more farcical points in order to try to pretend away the success, and we already know they will not stop. So they will become more and more comical as they struggle to sell lies

The Faustian mentality is what has us in such overall debt and trade disparity, that you would protect such flawed economic strategies is just weird.

Tariffs are not replacing cheap labor costs combined with the ease of modern shipping. This isn’t the 70’s. Nibble around the edges all you want and call it a yuge victory and this done in a few months is a best case scenario.

Well, I think to a certain extent there are those who simply disagree regardless, and I think you can find those people on the left and the right.

But, right now today, the move of simply opposing no matter what dominates liberal thought, positions and policies.  Even where things arise that they have supported in the past, they will now oppose them, no matter what.  And I think that is proving to be rather harmful to Democrats.
