For example, the Offensive line can't pick up the RB and start running with him. Or pick him up and throw him over the TD line. I mean, c'mon. It's painfully obvious WHY you shouldn't be assisting the runner by pushing, shoving, pulling or throwing. Are you really going to play obtuse here? Otherwise, you allow it but you allow the DEF to do the same. But that's not football. That's rugby. And it's also a dumb and unexciting play. It's clear that the Eagles are trying to game the system and that's not in the spirit of the game either. Even Sean McVay says "That doesn't look like football to me". Engorgeous George 2,235 Posted May 21 If I am the defensive coordinator I am going to line up a third string linebacker 6 yartds deep. I am going to have him anticipate the snap count at one. I am going to have him jump over the pile with his helmet leading straight at the Q.B.'s head. When the offense complains I will say that their formation and snap count designed to trick us in fact did so. Worse case scenario is my third string linebacker is tossed from the game and fined, a fine I would see more than compensated for with some sort of team bonus at the end of the year. As for the Eagles, well they could decide if they wanted to run it again later in the game as I substitute in my third string safety. I would take more or less the same approach with Mahomes. He likes to fake a slide or fake going out of bounds. I would have my guys light him up saying his fakes in the past have indeed fooled them and that now thye thought he was going to do what he has repeatedly in the past. Any team which wants to abuse the spirit of the rules can pay a price for so doing.

The success rate is probably the same, and it looks the same

Its not about effectiveness for me. Hurts and that OL would be really good at a regular sneak too. Its just a ghey play that I dont care to watch and will only gain popularity. Tush push, brotherly shove, 2 cheek sneak...couldnt be more fitting than the city of Philadelphia loving this play.

The Eagles fans are absolutely apoplectic about this that it stays and can't even see why it should be banned. Right now on the other forum battling it out with them. jbycho 708 Posted May 21 Just now, Maximum Overkill said: Because there's no reason to get rid of it. I honestly don't care either way. I don't understand all the fuss. Well, it is a rule in the books. Refs simply decided on their own not to call it on the offense. Yet last season there was at.least one call that I saw on the defense for pushing their own player from behind. I say get rid of it. I've seen players actually pulling ball carriers forward. It just doesn't make sense. 1
Mike Honcho 5,224 Posted May 21 2 hours ago, Maximum Overkill said: Whats the difference between the Tush Push and a 1 yard TD run??? The success rate is probably the same, and it looks the same The "tush push" play, a short-yardage tactic where players push the quarterback forward, has a high success rate on 1-yard or less attempts, especially when executed by teams like the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles, for example, have a documented success rate of around 86% since they started using the play, while the league average is closer to 71%, according to Yahoo Sports and ESPN data. Also, when you're going to claim Championships as you try to needle other fans, you better make sure your team has as many or more championships than the fans you're needling. Your tiny two championships are cute, but we're sitting on 13. And, to be fair, both your championships were flukes. Well, the first one was a fluke and the 2nd one you had to get by cheating, hence the asterisk.
