Hopefully you get him in the middle of his backswing

It could have helped.  Damn.  Down in Florida golfing all week after not playing all winter.  Did 36 holes yesterday.  Thinking of taking up something more to my speed like Euchre.

As long as it isn't pickleball!

I went to discgolf years ago, that way I can usually blame the tree got in my way when I shank one (or 20)

A college roommate of mine got me into that. Used to play a lot, then topped but got back into it during covid... been a few years again since I played but I still have my discs lying around somewhere

I assumed Nate Lowe would go there but I couldn't leave Springs on the board... if he really is healthy I was actually considering him in round 2

Sure would have rather had soler than ohearn, but I figured of would be a place I'd have to address in the supp the way the royals platoon a bunch of sucky of'ers

I was also looking at another reliever when considering Chapman.  But then I looked at how much they were getting paid and fock the red Sox are paying Chapman a lot of money in 2025.

6.05 - Danny Jansen, C, TB
Now listen... I had my next 5 picks lined up and this is messing with it. LOL. Not that expected it to all go down but for once, this draft has gone relatively as I'd hoped so far with a few minor alterations.

I simply refuse to use a supplemental pick on a catcher and my options beyond Jansen are the Rays own backup. I've got nothing else. I considered a d'Arnaud/Jansen double dip but would not have been able to get d'Arnaud anyway.  I guess that's what happens when your organization usually punts on the catcher position. the guys we bring in to play the position do not get jobs elsewhere when we give them the boot.... with the exception of d'Arnaud.

plus I knew you were picking off Jason Adam at that last turn. Kittredge was an okay fallback option although I doubt he will repeat his holds numbers from last year and Adam could very well become the closer in san diego

I didn’t realize Adam played with the jays or I would have taken him instead of Pivetta

I didn't either until 2 years ago when White told me. Blame him, lol
Also as I said, plan blown up... Matthew Boyd, SP, CHC... good pick Zero, I read he's looking pretty good at the back end of that rotation so far.

Going to be fun carrying 5 or 6 non-exclusive starting pitchers all year though.

I hear ya. I opened up my draft with 4 straight SP's. i just don't have worthy available hitters after Randy... even though I like Paredes power potential in houston he just doesnt offer much else, hope he does well but i figured stacking starting pitching was the better play for me

What’s crazy is I always have my list of my guys who played with the pads. But in reality you really need to see who the other teams options are to know who will be available to you when your turn comes around.

It's easy to miss a guy here or there.   I've started keeping a running spreadsheet year to year, and then I go through the royals team transactions each month every year to update it now.   Pretty good way to stay on to of who comes and who goes.

For the guys I've missed out on, I'd rather have the guys i picked before them (yes I know captain obvious).

I don't know if Lorenzen will stick in the rotation, but he could.   I think the royals like some of their own guys still coming into their own (marsh, bubic, Lynch, cameron) and I could see them moving Lorenzen to the pen if one of those other guys show they can be consistent with their stuff in the rotation.

Complete and utter nonsense as Lorenzen will be in the cy young talk this season. 😲

I hadn’t entire list ready.  Exclusives on one side. Draftable players on the other.  Left it at home while I am on this golf trip.  Totally scrambling making my picks.  I know I am missing a lot.

I do know I did get 2 of my top 4 though so that’s good.

I've had a spreadsheet since 2017. Exclusives, shared players, which other teams can pick that shared player. I only update it though a few weeks before we kick things off.

i do remember one season having no clue Kirby Yates (stud closer at the time) was available for me and that likely prompted me to start the sheet.

My spreadsheet starts in 2007.  It was a pretty basic depth chart back then, which I've updated each year with players who took an at bat or pitched an inning for the Rangers since then.  That's the year that Burt dropped the Rangers so I could pick them up. 👍

That year the draft order SCREWED me.  I lost Chris Young (RIP Ted), Carlos Lee, Alfonso Soriano, Alex Rodriguez, and Ivan Rodriguez in the first round.  Settled for my best available option in the first round, Kevin Millwood, and rode his 5+ ERA to a 14th place finish.

I used Lahman’s baseball database, but it doesn’t get updated any more until April…

Each team use to have a team history page via MLB.com and you could sort the all time players with a starting end ending year and position. That was helpful in the initial build of my spreadsheet. I believe those pages are all gone for a while now.

As for this draft... like most recent years... I don't really have ANY players taken off my list in round 1 because there simply are not many or any worthy of a round 1 pick. but rounds 2-5 usually rape most of my draft sheet.  As of this typing I have landed 6 players on my list and lost 9 and that split was 4 and 9 before my most recent 2 selections. Not saying I have it any worse than other teams, just that all 9 of those losses happened between picks 2.4 and 5.6

I'm fairly lucky in that the majority of my major league team's "stars" are talent developed through their own system.

Salvy, Witt, Pasquatch and even guys like Melendez, massey, Garcia and Fermin play everyday but have never played for any other team.

Pitching is sort of the same thing outside of ragans, lugo and lorenzen.

Sorry guys, been a crazy day with all the NOAA stuff happening.  Let me get caught up and I'll make a pick (hopefully) in the next half hour.

Lugo is really the only one of these I really wanted.  Soler (and I guess Rooker) would have been nice, but only because my OF depth sucks donkey balls.

Brent Rooker

Seth Lugo

Jorge Soler

Liam Hendriks

Paul DeJong

Matt Strahm

Michael Lorenzen

John Schreiber

meh

Oh sh1t I took renfroe too early my bad. Rays could have taken him but took Pham. I forgot he played for Tampa was only thinking Boston and KC. So if you want him let me know

@WhiteWonder

I also could’ve taken him, and considered it, but decided to gamble on Quintana.

It’s fine. If I wanted him over Pham I would have just picked him regardless of you already picking him 😆.

A little lull here is not bad. Once we finish I will enter the draft results thus far to clean up the yahoo available list.

then I will run the balls and record/post on YouTube like past years. I know I’m trusted but it’s fun regardless.

if we can kick off the Supp by Monday 3/10 we will be golden

Rangers jumped the gun with the Andy Ibanez pick (I'm not going to take him ahead of you though).
