Harvard: $57k a year university adding introductory math classes to curriculum.

Recommended Posts

Because liberal woke high schools don't teach it anymore.

Harvard University is introducing a new introductory math course, Math MA5, to address gaps in foundational algebra skills among its students, according to The Harvard Crimson

Harvard has a 3% acceptance rate. 😆

Can you say diversity challenged?  😆

Brought you you by liberals everywhere.  Keep'em stupid is the Democrat motto.  That makes them more easily led and easier to indoctrinate with the propaganda and dogma they spew.

Why does Harvard need to address introductory math skills to new students if they only accept 3% of applicants? What is their 3% criteria?

Because the 3 percent is not the top 3 percent.  And they stopped requiring standardized tests.

How can you get into Harvard if you still have to use your fingers to count (2+2)?

Oh yeah....DEI and affirmative action.

LOL, Harvard students can’t do math. I got A+ in all my Calculus classes.

In HS, calculus scared me.  I was ok at math, kinda got it.   Handled trig fine.  But heard calculus was all kinda new math and it scared me off

I hate to see stuff like this because it's pretty easy and not new math at all.  It's really just building on stuff you already know and making it generalized.  Teachers just do a terrible job teaching it.

Like the big scary derivative?  What if I told you it was just building on the concept of the slope of a line... The old rise over run.  That's all it is.  They just make it sound hard with a bunch of goofy language.

Big scary integral?  Can you compute the area of rectangles and add them together?  Guess what?  That's all an integral is.

All calculus does is introduce the concept of increasingly smaller and smaller changes in things until they are infinitely small and how to use that to do some interesting stuff.
