IRS may turn over tax data to immigration officials

Recommended Posts

If so, another promise broken.

Wouldn't we rather have undocumented workers file tax returns than not?

The IRS is nearing an agreement to allow immigration officials to use tax data to confirm the names and addresses of people suspected of being in the country illegally.

The IRS has for years reassured undocumented workers that their tax info is confidential and that it's safe to file returns without fear of deportation.

I'm with Squissy on this.  The "bad hombres" that we are supposed to be targeting are not the people filing tax returns.  This move seems like it is going to send a lot of taxpaying illegal aliens underground, and they're never going to trust us again.

The agreement would be limited to the IRS confirming illegals with final removal orders.  The IRS would not be proactively sharing data with the feds.   The feds would have to supply the name address and date of final removal order for the illegal to the IRS and the IRS would simply confirm.  Seems like very limited scope and a reasonable compromise.  I never liked us promising illegals that their data would be confidential anyways.  I want them feeling as much pressure as possible to get the f out of our country.

So, once again, Squiztard is being an over the top, hysterical drama queen over a tweet he read that has no context or basis in fact.

Just like he got all over the top and hysterical about ghey people being able to be fired from their jobs for simply being ghey w/out ever realizing that they do, indeed, have civil rights protections.

Thanks for the info.  I should have known better than to trust Squissy's butt buddy Kyle Griffin to provide objective info.

Terrible.

Stabbing these people in the back after we encouraged them to pay taxes which is what everybody wants.  Now they do and Trump is using this data to kick them out.

Utterly shameless.

ITSATIP, dummy, this is what you should be upset about.

That "promise" should have never made in the first place.

Illegal aliens broke our trust when the snubbed their nose out our laws.  So I’m not too concerned about their trust. And what part of “largest mass deportation in history” confused anyone?

And no, I’d rather not legitimize people coming here illegally and undercutting American workers wages with a tax return.

It is can only be viewed as a betrayal by our government who gave its word this would not happen.

The Latino community will soon discover what Trump really thinks of them (if they haven't already figured it out).

Remember that time when Trump kept saying “biggest mass deportation in history” and he got more Latino votes than the first two times he ran?

Oh no, the people who ignore the rules of immigration are now mad about how the rules of immigration are being handled? This type of messaging doesn’t work, no one cares.  That’s why no one cares if trump ignores the judges because you ignored the rules of immigration in the first place.

It’s a building block effect.  Pile up enough of these threats of roadblocks, penalties, and deportations, and less people will find it worth the risk.

Oh, we get it all right.

We get that the IRS made a promise to these folks that if they compiled with the law and filed tax returns, then that information would not be turned over to immigration officials. Now the government is breaking that promise.

Too bad. Game over.

And was that "promise" written on toilet paper? Where did Trump sign?

It might as well have been.

When the US government makes a promise and gives it word, that should be honored, but obviously you don't feel that way.

SMH.

So Biden gave his word to who? And in what form?  And why didn't he ensure he could keep it?

Do liberals ever think this stuff through?

It was the IRS who promised this and I believe it preceded Biden's term in office, although I don't know the exact starting date.

https://abc30.com/post/department-homeland-security-asks-irs-turn-unauthorized-workers-addresses/15985583/

Many undocumented workers have paid federal taxes for years using an IRS program that allows them to report their earnings, regardless of their immigration status.

Since the start, the IRS promised to not share their information.

You progressives have selective memories. Going back to just the Clinton’s first first term, they promised not to use the IRS to NOT go against their political rivals or their supporters. Two terms, and lo and behold, they used it immediately used it for intimidation and and many spent much. American legal citizens. Guess none you remember. The Clintons second year when they went after all of them using it. Fascinating. I KNOW you scream W.

And I you remember how he used the tactic, along with Peliosi, Schumer, and the media to help them accomplish it. The revinshment left needs to come up some the new ideas and throw away the old playbook to realize they lost much power of now, I understand that politics are cyclical. But I see and LOVE their implosion.

Why do we want them filing returns?

We just want them paying taxes.
