She killed the movie. If this movie came out and it had another brown actress, I think it could have been fine. She went out of her way to say things that turned people off from the movie. If I were a director I would lump her in with Blake Lively as someone I would never work with.

She's easy to dislike, but the producer (or at least his son) is scape-goating her. Her crime was being too loud about the woke elements of the plot, but she isn't why it's woke, or why the dwarf debacle and crappy CGI happened. She truly seems like a narcissist, so it's weird to defend her on one hand, but the failure is on Disney fundamentally, and they're just happy to let her be piled on.

You're mssing some very important ppieces where she told Trump voters to "go f@ck themselves", told conservatives to unfollow her and kept saying "free palestine" every chance she got while promoting the movie, despite her costar being Israeli.

So, yes, while I agree the movie as written was also problematic, she herself is also to blame as well.

I didn't see this in my "extensive" research. not what you want to see in promoting a movie. i get the people who made the movie being a bit annoyed.

Yeah, on top of all that she called the Prince from the original version a "stalker" and claimed that the actor playing the part in the new movie might have all his scenes cut because of it.  Basically insulting the original version.

So, yeah, she was also the problem for a movie that needs to make about 600 million just to break even.  She never even gave it a chance.  Of course, Disney executives and producers not learning ANY lessons from their previous bombs also didn't help either.

i hadn't remembered the plot of Snow White other than the basics. fwiw, the 1937 movie is pretty different from the original fairy tale. in that, the Queen is made to dance in burning metal boots till she dies..damn thats dark. There was no kiss breaks the curse either, just a piece of apple stuck in the throat that is knocked free by a pat on the back. the prince carried around her glass coffin cause he was enthralled by her..so maybe the stalker thing isnt nuts. not giving Zegler too much of a pass, again can see how the makers would be annoyed by some things she said, but overall, this whole thing is silly. i find it easy to believe, trumpers will try and trash it and her cause of whatever you heard she said about them.

Well, here is her problem and your problem: You're basing your opinion on TODAY'S lens and not the lens of what is was back then and that is the essence of "woke".  I guarantee you if we could go back in history and ask women if the prince was a "stalker", they would laugh and think you're nuts.  It was a massive hit when it first came out almost 100 years ago and is still regarded as one of the best animations in history.

They WERE supposed to be the dwarves until the backlash and that is when they went with the 7 CGI dwarves instead. However, those 7 "diverse" (not LGBTQ) characters are actually still in the movie but they are now "The Bandits".

Yeah I made a thread about this before I even knew they were making a movie about it.  It was more in jest in response to whacko conservatives trying to ban harmless Childrens books (no they aren’t all harmless but many are), but when you think about it, the original Snow White story is pretty outdated and not politically correct, even by pre-“woke mob” standards IMO.

Huh?  What history are you revising today?  I'm not sure you understand the article.

The 7 characters were meant to be "diverse", not "LGBTQ".  And it was those 7 characters you see in the picuture.  It was only after Dinklage's remarks and the community backlash that they went back to the table and CGI'd dwarves in and made those 7 previous characters now "Bandits".  The story was changed to do that - it was never part of the original story to have dwarves AND bandits.

In any event, you're revising history to try and prove a "MAGA Overreaction" point that was not just "MAGA" because Dinklage made remarks about it and I guarantee you that Dinklage is NOT "MAGA".
