It won't be funny or interesting, but at least it will be original. You're like broken record of lameness. Poor Rusty. He's hurting.

The mom of the girl having the birthday had her at 18 I think. So I go into the jump zone place where the party is and there is this cheerleader looking girl doing flips and everything. Figure I got there too early or whatever. She comes down off the thing and introduces herself as the mom. At most she had to barely be 21 and I had started to gray. That made me feel old. I had a similar experience but slightly more embarrassing where while dropping my kid off to play, I legit asked the girl who answered the door if her mom was there.....and she was the mom. Not a teenage daughter. I could feel my ears burning. I did not know. His mom set the playtime up. Had never seen the mom before.

Haha, yeah my wife told me she was younger, I wasn't expecting like a college cheerleader looking girl doing flips etc. I walked in from it and said, "well you told me", to which my wife responded "yeah I know, she's hot"

My wife is a year younger than me and we were over 30 when we got married after she finished her doctorate. We had kids when I was 35 and 40. She used to complain regularly about the "high school bltches" she had to talk to at preschool all being stay at home moms with wealthy older husbands that dumped their kids off so they could go to the gym for a couple hours while she was running her own business. I just appreciated the scenery when it was my turn to drop them off. @EternalShinyAndChrome to some extent I agree having kids is a young person's game. We used to make fun of the 23 year olds hauling three kids around and how dumb that was. Then you get older and realize that there are definitely advantages to that. The biggest being energy. I never really wanted kids but my wife "inspired" me by wanting to bone all the time, so I went with it. I'm not a kid person and never have been. I don't like kid stuff: toys, entertainment, constant need for attention. I don't enjoy being around lots of kids. I was an only child in a poor household so I was pretty selfish. My two kids drive me batshit crazy daily. They are the best damn things that ever happened to me.

I'm really on the fence about having kids, haven't had the ticking biological clock feeling, but I am feeling like it would be time to try if we're going to do it. And I lean toward going for two if we commit to it. My husband has a 14-year-old son with his ex-wife. He's great with kids and would be happy with more, but he's also baseline content now. He feels like he'd be happy either way. Curious to hear from you guys, if any geeks had kids around this age. On 3/29/2025 at 6:07 PM, Mookz said: Congrats naomi. Who is this dude, and how did you meet? I know right?! My biggest takeaway from this thread is that we owe naomi a belated bachelorette party. Seriously though naomi: did you discuss this with your husband prior to getting married? One of the good things the Catholic Church does for engaged couples is have each person independently take a survery: on a scale of 1-7, how important is _______? (having kids, saving money, church, etc.). There aren't right or wrong answers per se, but rather the goal is to see if the couple is generally aligned on major, non-compromisable topics. Sounds like you both are on the fence. I love my kids, and I know several older couples without kids who seem somewhat sad about it, but... it's kinda late in life to take such a big step if you are both meh about it. Also practically: would you be OK with one or two kids with Downs or other genetic problems? Do you have health insurance that would cover such a situation?
